Heron Lake Vineyard Chardonnay 2018

Doesn’t bowl you over with concentration but Enfield is all about subtlety and balance. Green apple, pear, slightly bitter lemon finish, not a whiff of butter or vanilla or toast in sight — 3 years ago

Littorai

Les Larmes Anderson Valley Pinot Noir 2018

A light to medium weight palate. Tasted blind Barb thought Victorian ie. Giant Steps or Bass Phillip and I must admit that could be so. Savoury red fruits, cherry, raspberry - a burnt toffee note. Soft, smooth fine tannins. A slight hint of tarriness. A good Pinot if not a little expensive. A bit surprised Lattorai makes it to you down under. These get better with a bit more time, 4-6 yrs. Cheers. 🍷

I tend to agree David with your Drinking Window. I was following Jancis Robinson’s window of 2019 to 2024.

Why is everyone sad that Copain sold to KJ? I predict that the prices will be better and the quality will be more consistent. Don't make me remind you of the 2015 rose which was completely reductive to the point that I had to send cases back to the distributor. It didn't even blow off after 2 days! Anyways, this is a good bottle. When these are too young, they taste like warhead candy, but with just a few years on them, they taste like perfect black berries that just now became ripe. Also, Ray blind tasted me on this and I called it down to the producer. — 8 years ago

You answered your own question. Consistency is exactly what we wish to avoid. We don't need any more Cali wines that taste the same year after year from manipulation.

@Neil Barham Your dumb to not want consistent quality. Does that mean that it should taste the same every year? Of course not! I am the most die hard natural wine person you will ever meet and I am telling you right now that the Copain rose I had was ruined by excessive so2 last year. I don't want manipulation. People confuse the bullshit marketing for the matters of fact. Just because a wine is small production and uses whole cluster doesn't make it natural or un-manipulated. Too many wineries are riding this low alcohol and whole cluster trend right now and Copain was one of them.

Anthill Farms

Anderson Valley Pinot Noir 2017

Fruit comes from the coolest coastal parts of this appellation, linked by the influence of the Pacific’s cool marine air, which delays ripening. Ruby with rich berry fruit, citrus and floral spice. On the palate, strawberry and cherry, tangy, with cedar notes and earthy tones. Bright acidity, soft expressive tannins, long finish ending with mineral and cedar spice. Very nice, drink now & over next 5 years. — 3 years ago
