Quintessential LLC Napa. 14.5% abv. Dark chocolate. Dark berries. Tabecco. Licorice. High acidity. Medium tannin. Probably great with steak but I had it with rotisserie chicken and Italian sub. — 5 years ago

Santorini 2016

A bit of CO2 at first but the bubbles go away after a while. On the nose : a bit of honey, peach, hay. Interesting and profound. The palate is wide and full of fruits, the acid backbone is a bit overwhelmed except at the end where the acid backbone comes back to drive the palate to a moderately long finish with peach. Cool wine ! — 6 years ago

Montée de Tonnerre Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay 2013

Very fresh, bright and young. Frankly, suffers in comparison with the 96, but super good fruit. Lime, chalk, slate, dazzling minerality and an intense palate with huge drive. A real baby. I suspect this won’t have the quality of the 96 but a zesty, wine with loads of potential. — 6 years ago

Pre-move-mania treat with J, A&A. Evolved, a little sherried, butterscotch. It woke up-- and freshened up-- but not quite as memorable as the delicious Jungle Bird chaser. At least I'm finally posting this... From a photo lurking in Google Drive..., — 7 years ago

Vin Gris De Cigare Grenache Rosé Blend 2017

Vin Gris De Cigare’s nose offers tart aromas, stemmy strawberries, raspberries and apricots. The palate is riper, but still not a fruit bomb by any stretch. Acidity is at just about the perfect balance between food-friendly and sipping. I can't wait to have it with a ham sandwich - that's my post-Thanksgiving leftover favorite. It's a blend of red and white Rhône varieties, btw. — 6 years ago

La Crema

Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

Aromas of red cherry, raspberry, pomegranate and sweet tobacco.  Multi-layered flavors of red, blue and black berry fruit, plums, cherries and a hint of blood orange underpin subtle layers of exotic spice and toast.  Fine tannins and balanced acidity drive a long finish. Very Good. — 6 years ago

L'Insolite Saumur Chenin Blanc 2014

Sure did make an impression. Big, rich, textural, stunning acid drive. Pears, apples, limes, and layers of molten honey! Likely some bot even - hints of it on the palate. Utterly delicious.

Add notes: Domaine des Roches Neuves. Biodynamic focus. L'Insolite - 80+ year old Chenin vines, clayey-limestone, sandstone and flint subsoil.

Château Lynch-Bages

Grand Cru Classé Pauillac Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 1989

I had really high hopes for the 89, this probably isn’t the best version of this bottle. Still very good but not the blockbuster I was hoping for. We let it decent for 2 hours and gave it a go- my wife said it best , it was missing “the middle”. Nose had that musty/dusty old Bordeaux smell -I love. It was light with more floral tones and had a soft finish. Then 30 minutes later it opened up and you had the mineral, graphite and red fruit. It wasn’t earthy or dusty by any stretch it just didn’t have the structure. We tried it with steak and it helped up pretty well. — 6 years ago

Russian River Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2012

Never thought that a 2012 Sauvignon Blanc from Napa would hold this long. Well, I guess I shouldn't have been surprised given the name. This bottle is mature, shows a very slight amount of acidity on the front, but very "light" given the weight. This wine had a lot of characteristics of a Chardonnay. Melon and mango type fruits in the middle. Very vibrant. Finished with more of a honeysuckle type of characteristic. Not over the hill or a bottle of vinegar by any stretch of the imagination. Just pretty amazed that a 6 year old SB could be drinking so well six years after bottling, and with such an amazing depth and complexity! — 6 years ago

Beautiful wine. Dusty in the nose with hints of red berries and eucalyptus. Very complex with hints of dried cranberry or currant. Not stringent by any stretch but a nice dry finish. Despite the age still it still had fruit. Love gruaud larose. — 7 years ago
