Really went deep in the cellar for this. Moët & Chandon discontinued their White Star label in 2009 replacing it with their Imperial label. This bottle is probably 15 years old (considering it’s not even the last version of the White Star label). Macerated cherry, walnut, golden raisin, and decomposing apple, with some faint lemon peel and foie gras. No doubt past its prime, but just enough life to enjoy. — 7 years ago
Oh my! Star bright straw gold with green highlights. White flowers, orange rind on the nose. The palate is downright creamy(!) on entry immediately brightening mid-palate (medium acidity) and giving up orange rind, honeysuckle, and a bit of coriander with a honey like -- yes, honey like -- finish. My wine son and I enjoyed it with scallops and red snapper with a foie gras starter. It sang. So much variety falls under the Bordeaux Blanc Sec moniker. This might spoil me for a lot of what's left. — 8 years ago
Rediculously delicious bottle of pinot. And yes if Gary's name is on it, I buy it. Family owned Star market in Salinas has the best selection of local wine. Shared it with my girl Patrice and the waiter at our local in Malibu — 9 years ago
Silly smooth and a bit smokey - nice deep fruit! — 10 years ago
From an A+ vineyard, on the St. Aubin side of the Montrachet hill. Next to the Chevalier Montrachet parcel, but with a different exposure (south-west instead of south-east). Energetic Burgundy from a rising star domaine (especially since son Olivier took over in 1995). — 10 years ago

Awful picture but really nice blend out of Washington. Had a glass right when opened but decanted another bottle for about and 1.5hrs and made quite the difference. Bright nose of fresh red fruit. Strong cherry, ripe strawberry, dried fig and vanilla notes. Medium acidity with a slight tannic finish helped elevate the crisp texture of the wine. Blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot. Great for the money. Served with a bone in filet with seared foie gras — 7 years ago
What a delight to experience. As the evening unfolded so did this, as one might imagine. Such complexity and depth. Blackberries and plums intermingled with ripe red fruits, laced in baking spices and licorice. Lovely notes of star anise and lavender potpourri with an aromatic bouquet of graphite and tar. So much power and elegance married together. It was a pleasure to drink. — 8 years ago

Opens up nicely after at least an hour; will decant the rest of them. Deep Purple, plums,
Blackberry, loamy, etc.

I was immensely surprised when I had my first sip of this "Francophile's dream" of a Chardonnay. Gorgeous star bright golden color, and a pretty, soft nose - lilies, lemon zest, and honeysuckle. The pallet is fairly acidic, but balanced with candied lemon and pineapple fruits stealing the show, and light notes of marangue and a very crisp tart finish. I'd say that it had a very nice similarity to Mâcon-Village, with similar alcohol, and similar acid. It is by far one of the best values in the Chardonnay world, and atypical of Napa Valley in my opinion, which is refreshing. It'll need a couple more years before it's showing its true potential, but even in youth it is fantastic. Bravo, @Steve Matthiasson — 8 years ago
Leaps out of the glass with flowers, an almost kirsch-like red cherry, granite, a tinge of funk, and an intoxicating mix of herbs and spices. Like a field of wildflowers that's been dusted with cinnamon, star anise, and clove. Melds together over time into a sexy perfume that would be unmistakable if I came across it decades from now. Everything translates through to the palate in a juicy and lively celebration. Relative to Gamay, or Beaujolais in general, this has weight and length in spades. I wish I hadn't waited until this vintage to try this producer. If there's better Gamay I'm sure I won't find it because I'll be too busy drinking this. — 9 years ago

Very much a New World Sangiovese, this bottle from Walla Walla Valley is still quite tasty. It has a big nose of cherries, smoke, and spice. Upon opening, the taste is very sharp but softens after decanting. The palate consists of oak and butterscotch, but the deep dark fruits steal the show. After the wine has had time to open up, the flavored of ripe cherries and leather display the best characteristics of the juice. The finish shows well integrated tannins and those typical Tuscan spicy notes. — 10 years ago
Found this in the cellar, purchased from winemaker upon a visit to Cork's. Very pleasant, deep and rich after decanting. Went well with a variety of food. — 11 years ago
The final bottle of the case. This wine is now darker and smokier on the nose with less of the blue fruit and more of the stewed black fruits. The palate still has wonderful acidity but is far less lush. Flavors of wet earth mingle with darker stewed plum and blackberries and lead to a bit of a shorter finish that shows a touch more puckering acidity. — 7 years ago
Shy lemon, yellow apple, star fruit, and cantaloupe. Fleshy with lots of acidity. Familiar and graceful. — 8 years ago
The 2014 provides a glimpse into how lucky am I to have worked with incredible vineyards in my short career. Textured, concentrated and fresh. Yes, fresh. Cab should be fresh. — 8 years ago
Savory, meaty, earthy, caramelized, charred soy. Nose like a bowl of bomb ramen So good. — 8 years ago
Right on the money with this Riesling! Straw in color and star bright. Nose was filled with lemon-lime, honeydew, Granny Smith apples, wild honey, citrus blossom, ginger, and new plastic pool toy aromas. The palate was extremely well balanced and the acidity was high and puckering. The tart lemon and lime flavors held through the finish. The finish was surprisingly long, and it was a nice medium-minus body. This Riesling provides a solid compliment to spicy sushi and spicy foods. It holds up strong and has a lot of backbone. All in all, this is your Riesling if you are looking for a refreshing, acidic, dry breath of fresh air. Instant favorite of mine! Washington dry Rieslings are spectacular. Cheers! — 9 years ago

It's easy to understand why Coquerel calls Sauvignon Blanc its flagship varietal—clearly the result of excellent fruit quality combined with the sheer talent of Bordeaux-born winemaker, Christine Barbe. The 2012 Le Petit Coquerel boasts a vibrant nose of gooseberries and lime zest, punctuated by spicy undertones reminiscent of juniper berries and white pepper. Lovely on the palate, and texturally quite round, with pithy layers of white grapefruit and star fruit. Herbaceous at the close with a long, lingering finish. — 10 years ago
Magnum of the 2005 opening up nicely!!! — 11 years ago
Beautiful golden color. Subtle nose of crushed rock, green pear and petrol. Peach pit and vanilla with a lot of minerality on the palette. Long floral finish with hints of star fruit. Very good aged white wine. — 12 years ago
