Can't go wrong with a Chiarello wine when at Bottega in Yountville - pairs well with Italian but stands alone as well. Looking forward to 2 bottles of '05 that we have at home! — 8 years ago

This is the Bottega Valdobbiadene Proseco I mentioned in my earlier post. I had a glass of this at Tavernetta del Battistero Ristorante. Apparently, this Proseco you cannot find/buy in any local shops. According to the manager, it can only be purchased from the winery in a region north of Florence and he buys 50 cases of it at a time. Delicious. Might go back to buy a whole bottle before we leave. — 10 years ago

Earth and fruit combined. Striking nose of toasty spices, anise and cocoa. But had enough fruit on the palette to balance out. Dark berry, bramble. Medium tannins and lingered with espresso. I can see why this grape is good with gamier proteins — 7 years ago
