What can I say, I love this stuff! Have drinken quite a bit of it this week and as always love the slight spritz and balance initially...so drinkable, but new takeaways for me...cand def age this wine; and calling it a Rose is a bit of a disservice to its versatility. Held up all the way theough a meal of shrimp and heirlooms to Filet Mignon with Port/Gorgonzola sauce. Just amazing as always...my desert island wine. — 10 years ago
Flowers in a bottle.. So pretty, so balanced, off dry, amazing strawberry and down right delicious. Slight spritz. So... Good.. — 10 years ago
Dinner at Brucie. Needed a sec in the glass for the initial "spritz" to blow off - but was fantastic after. — 11 years ago
very bright yet buxom with some spritz at the back. — 12 years ago
Drank the previous bottles in 2013 and 2014 - must have lost track of this one. A bit of spritz on opening, but still has some acidity/minerality. @Kimberly Anderson @Phil A - just another February Rosé day in San Diego. Stay warm! ⛄️ — 8 years ago

Checking back in on this 2010 from just about a year ago. Brought this bottle back from Alsace in the Spring of 15. Hugel was such a great visit. A ton of history there. Huge very old wooded vats with thick layers of tartaric crystals. Alsace is an area that not only had to fight off phylloxera but was also ravaged by two world wars. It's hard to find late 30's and early 40's Alsace Rieslings. The German soldiers drank most or all of them. I don't remember his name but the English gentleman who took us around that day but he had been there 30 plus years and knows their history front to back. A really nice man who is an amazing host and wealth of knowledge. As for this wine, not much has changed in a year and I'm copying over my previous notes. Lemon/lime pulp spritz, lemon bars, ripe grapefruit, grapefruit pit, ripe pineapple, white peach, green melon skin, bartlett pear, green apple, strong yellow florals, chalky minerality and beautiful acidity. Good balance and a long rich smooth finish. — 9 years ago
Some what Riesling like - little funk that blew off almost immediately some interesting spice elements and minerality apple fruit with the lees contact texture and just a slight spritz Went great with the warm octopus salad — 10 years ago

Austere at first, but opens quickly. Complex, no spritz, awesome. — 10 years ago
A great bubbly to serve to those who don't like champagne. A hint of sweetness with a touch of pear. And the label is just plain cool. — 10 years ago
I got the pic via search and I think it's from @Richard Steinberg cellar tracker notes consistently identify a "spritzy" quality to this wine on the pop and it was absolutely there. I'm curious as to where this comes from because I have also seen it repeatedly on the '05 Clos Des Papes. Anyway, the spritz detracted a little as it was still there, although less pronounced after 1.5 hours in the decanter. However the wine was not compromised. Tannins are resolved. Fruit still there but it's no longer very vibrant. A good not great wine. Saxum can do little wrong in my eyes but this '04 is on it's denouement. Drink now. — 10 years ago
