Color of amber, slightly light. Nose of concentrated aldehyde, baked apple, some cedar wood, and ripe pineapple note. Taste is very smooth, sweet, and nice spice. Flavors of dried fruits fill the mouth. Aftertaste of vanilla, nice dried peach and figs, with some refreshing zest. Some warmth in the throat is the only thing that reminds me of the smoothness actually is coming from a spirit. — 8 years ago
Bought this on a whim. Distilled from Sam Adams experimental 13th hour stout, with added hops and other things. This is surprisingly drinkable, with nice vanilla and wood notes, and actually quite a bit of sweetness probably from the stout distillates. I like it. There are 2 other spirits in this. Now it will go well with a Patriots victory. — 9 years ago
My very favorite spirit, I toast to the scottsman who introduced me to grapes (and friends) made right. Today, friends I am promoted... Cheers. This mouth is subtle, hints of cherries and smooth.... — 10 years ago
Sublime and as mellow as any Scotch Ive ever tasted. Persistent, smoky and delicate nose to finish. Color looks more like Anejo tequila. Nose: vanilla, profound smoke, peat, earth and a simplicity and completeness that belies its complexity and depth. The most symmetric spirit I've ever tasted. I'm not a peat fan, but it's so integrated it's just a portion of the depth and flavor. Death bed scotch! — 10 years ago

Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery offers a series of Belle Meade Bourbons finished in different used casks. The Cognac finish helps reign in the bourbon’s flavors and choreography, coming to a narrower, cleaner point as it leaves the palate. Its aroma was described to me as “eggnog,” a descriptor I find hard to shake. The spirit does find a beautiful combination of suave, warming flavors – cream, cinnamon, clove – as well as a gentle magnolia blossom florality. — 7 years ago

Nose: dark dried fruits a la plums, raisins, and dark cherries, pungent oloroso sherry molasses-esque sweetness, spiced honey and toasted caramel. Quite sharp at the cask strength 60.1%. A bit of water cuts the numbing sharpness, and brings out the dark fruit and honey elements as well as the musty (in a good way) oloroso sherry notes. A very distinct orange ginger coffee cake aroma emerged with the addition of water as well.
Mouthfeel/body: very full and silky, viscous. Good tingle at cask strength. Not quite as viscous after the addition of water (obviously), but maintains its body and silky character.
Palate: More dark cherries, raisins, spiced dried fruit, cinnamon, more pungent molasses oloroso notes. A bit of water cuts the numbing sharpness of the cask strength alcohol volume and opens up the dark dried fruits notes and pungent sherry notes, as well as more spice.
Conclusion: Great whisky with plenty complexity and character for the price. Tastes a bit young and spirit-y at cask strength but since I typically cut it with a tiny splash of water, this hasn't been much of an issue. — 10 years ago
One of my favourites at the moment, not a port finish, spent a full 11 years in port casks. Peat (this is a peated Springbank) and port doesn't always work, but here it works well. Quite intense peat and port flavours at 51%, excellent. — 10 years ago
The blend of 16 year old and 6 year old just works. It has a touch of sweetness that aides the power of it and makes it feel so integrated. The nose is a delight. For 33.00 this is the best whiskey you can find. A real treat. Buy love it. — 10 years ago
Single Barrel 125 Proof KSBW Bottled for The Spirit Shop (Norman, OK). Massive malt, caramel and oak. Not for the faint of heart, but if you’re an aficionado of bourbon 🥃 you’ll love this barrel. — 7 years ago

I am so sad it is gone. All time favorite spirit. Absolutely delicious. — 8 years ago
Tasting notes from oloroso sherry cask 10131, bottle 205 of 650.
Nose: dark cherry, candied orange peel, dried plum, restrained fresh mint, slightly bitter oak spice, raisin, medium-dark chocolate, ginger.
Mouthfeel/Body: wonderful and silky, lovely texture; smooth, perfectly balanced viscosity.
Palate: dried cherry and plum, vanilla and cinnamon, fresh mint and oak spice, apple, evenly balanced molasses-esque oloroso sherry notes, and more soft subtle oak spice on the long finish.
Conclusion: absolutely lovely, delightful single malt. Great balance, wonderful mouthfeel and texture. A great demonstration of the harmony you get when you take a wonderful spirit, an exceptional cask, and let them go all the way to the end of their journey together; no second-cask finish or blending necessary. — 10 years ago

100% macabeu, spontaneously fermented, aged 1y in concrete w/o any intervention. A crazy, natural wine with nice appley substance, a touch of almond, quite rounded and with a saline acidity towards the (long) finish. Ultra drinkable and works wonders with food. This is brilliant, if crazy, stuff! — 7 years ago
