A relatively early incarnation of one of Justin Smith's wines, the 2005 Broken Stones is, in my view, a window into the great wines he's been making since he hit his stride starting with the 2006 vintage. Amazing nose of iodine, blackberry, and dark fruit notes combined with a subtle undercurrent of earth, this is a totally underrated wine that is ageing beautifully. In my view this wine is peaking, so if you have this you should drink it up. Terrific! — 10 years ago
Probably the most enjoyable Australian whisky I've had. Deeply honeyed, smooth and dark. Very very drinkable. — 10 years ago

Killer value here. Charles Smith's K Viognier is dry, crisp. Cool climate Viognier with notes of white flowers, unripened peach and nectarine. Not too viscous of a texture - delicate and balanced. Yum! — 11 years ago
Very light nose for cinnamon whiskey. Probably the best cinnamon whiskey/shine I've had. Not too sweet, very smooth and flavorful. Nice spice level, too. — 9 years ago
A wine from what I refer to as Justin Smith's "miracle year" (although with slightly less consequence than the development of special relativity), the 2007 Broken Stones is terrific. Probably still a bit young - the wine seems a little closed - it has all the hallmarks of being a great wine in a few years. If you have this, I'd recommend decanting for 1-2 hours. Enjoy! — 9 years ago

The '06 K Vintners Syrah 'Motor City Kitty' is an opaque purple/black full-bodied wine. Expressive and succulent aromas of smoked meats, roasted spice, blackberry and black cherry jump from the glass. Some flowery and tarry notes are evident on the lengthy finish. I just need to find out what Charles Smith's connection with Detroit, the Motor City, is all about. Is it the Tigers, the Lions, or an old girlfriend? — 13 years ago
Wine tasting yesterday at Charles Smith's Jet City tasting room. Great space! The 2013 Beautiful is smooth with soft tannins. A real pleasure to drink and share with friends. All four of us enjoyed it. — 9 years ago
Thanks to @Kent Skidmore. Burgundy meets Cali. Balanced, nuanced and a testament to Mike Smith's wine making range. A beauty. — 10 years ago
