The showstopper of the trio of Freeman #PinotNoir showdown. The first bottle to be finished! — 11 years ago
1999: Clos de la Roche face off.
Domaine Dujac still young, needs time to develop. 9.1 rating.
Domaine Ponsot more complex at this stage, yet might become a bit weird later, or could simply have been this bottle. Overall, the more interesting of this showdown. — 13 years ago
Randy Burleson, owner of Bistro by the tracks, is also a Zinfandel fan, so we hit it off and decided to have a Zinfandel Showdown! This is his first pick and he really picked a doozy. (Does anyone still use that word anymore?). The Rockpile area produces some great Zins, as I have sampled in the past. This is no exception. Dark and brooding, but not jammy. Nice complexity. He wins this round. — 9 years ago

Punchy perfume. Still has a core of youth and a smoky edge. Looking forward to revisiting a magnum in the coming decade. Winner of the #christmas #1982 #showdown #sonoma — 11 years ago

Round two of the Zinfandel Showdown and this one is a wild one! 16.4 percent alcohol... and you can feel it in every sip. The blueberry, cocoa and espresso notes keep that in check and the soft texture makes it go down way too easy. — 9 years ago
