I really like this because it just goes to show Randy's flexibility and desire to experiment. True #bordeauxblend style with the #freshness of the #santacruz there are notes that remind me of #loire — 9 years ago
Smooth red wine. Not sweet but delicious! — 9 years ago
Creosote and tar with yesterday's wood fire aromas balanced by greatly refined notes of pure dark cherries and black currant fruit, with the charred oak present but integrated. Full and rich yet lively and acidic, showing a stoney profile where fruit, tannins and acidity are polished but still obvious. Toasty oak adds complexity and the spice notes reminds me Guigal's La La bottlings. Impressive and age worthy too. — 10 years ago
The Kalin wines have always amazed me... — 10 years ago
First foray into Santa Cruz Cabernets for me. These guys can make wine. The 2010 vintage showed great balance and chewy notes of blackberry with some acidity lingering. Really great. Can't wait to try another vintage. — 10 years ago
A little throw back Charleston Wine Festival circa 2014 with my bestie Brooke! — 10 years ago
This is extremely resonant of the Santa Cruz Mountains. Cool damp forest floor with bright hibiscus, wintergreen, and tart cherry notes. Touches of cremini and cotton candy keep me sipping. A classic. — 11 years ago
Three years and I finished it! I fucking rock! Yeah... Not for lightweights... — 12 years ago
Little green for me as a Pinot. — 12 years ago

Not a fan upon first opening but it's growing on me. — 9 years ago
Thought I'd try this inexpensive bottle, and then ended up loving it. Great crisp fruity flavor, not bitter. I went back to the market and bought all they had--Spring & Summer will be here soon! — 9 years ago
Amazing white pepper unlike any Syrah I've ever had from California, with roasted beef and blackberry and raspberry, both the fruit and bruised green canes. It is a little lean and tart on the palate, which I find very appealing but which may be offputting to some. It's startling reminiscent of old school Cote Rotie in the elegant style, like 80s and early 90s Ogier, Jasmin, or Gallet, and reminds me how much I miss them. It also reminds me of Texier's Serine wines. — 10 years ago
Fresh and well balanced. The best of the lineup IMHO. — 10 years ago
Rhys. Pretty and powerful. So much here, citrus, apple, flinty and toasty but hints not obtrusive, orange oil and blossoms, lots of minerality for a domestic wine. Gawd I loves me some Rhys. — 10 years ago
Ridge never lets me down. Amazing. I'm going back to Jackson's to buy up the rest. — 12 years ago
First look, 2 months post bottling- suave vintage in co co — 12 years ago
First for me. Late post. Remember being afraid of the alcohol but it was well tamed considering it clocked in at 14.9. Complex and delicious. Thanks Eric!! — 9 years ago
2012 vintage. Pale lemon. Full concentration - quite oaky and vanilla essence, ripe lemon. On the palate, medium minus acidity, full body and deep concentration. Bit too big for me. Drink now until 2023. — 9 years ago
Light and crisp — 10 years ago
Yes that says 1990!!! Fuckin' cool and holding up like a champ. Aging potential of these wines has been an eye opening lesson to me and astounding to experience!!! — 10 years ago
Great job Kevin, Jeff & co. Lemon oil, citrus, medium high acid, 60+ second finish. Can't wait to see where this goes in 3-5 years. — 10 years ago
Santa Cruz Cabernet most always gets me. — 11 years ago

I loved this. I'm usually not swooned easily by California cab these days, but this bottle rocked me. Juicy rich sweet black fruit, vanilla and chocolate overtones and aromatics of cedar, market cherry, and eucalyptus. Dense but velvety on the finish. What a well-done cab from an oft-overlooked part of California. It probably didn't hurt that I had Georg Riedel pouring it for me out of a gorgeous decanter either. — 8 years ago
