Santa Lucia Highlands, Central Coast

Melville

Estate Santa Rita Hills Pinot Noir 2021

Ruby red color with aromas of dark berry fruits, cedar and spicy forest floor notes. On the palate flavors of raspberry, blackberry, and crushed red cherries with notes of cedar and baking spice, lively acidity, fine tannins, long finish ending with fruit and earthy notes. Drinking well! Pair this with a pork roast or Salmon with a balsamic glaze. — 7 months ago

Doctor's Vineyard Pinot Noir 2017

Love Charles Pinots. I do like the Doctors Vineyard from Santa Lucia slightly over the Russian River.

I hold these 5-6 years from bottling, not vintage before I start drinking his Pinots. Excellent Floral fruits, strawberries, pomegranate, dry cranberries, some blackberries, haunting raspberries, cherries, red cola/licorice, dry crushed rocks, fresh to dryish herbs, mid dark spice, vanillin, nutmeg, soft cinnamon, limestone marl, hints of fresh tobacco, wood shavings, red, dark, blue flowers framed in violets. Rainfall acidity with excellent tension, well balanced, nicely structured, floral and polished finish.

Very enjoyable. Close to a pop’n pour. Give it 30 minutes to open. Nice fruit and spice. Structured and harmonious. Getting better as it ages! — 9 months ago

Casual Encounters Syrah Blend 2017

Full bodied, flamboyant and very enjoyable. There’s a perfumed nose and a richness of flavours and an impressive silkiness and weight. Black cherry, marzipan, wet rock, sweet liquorice, potpourri, nutmeg. — 10 months ago

Didn't have too much of it because I was already a few sheets to the wine but it was lovely nonetheless. That's what happens when you don't eat all day and do a tasting and a wine dinner! — 9 years ago
