A funky and crazy mineral/earth laden wine. Needed air. Bruised apple/pear, quince, wooly lanolin funk, smokey rocks, mushrooms, saffron, some sherry-like notes on the nose and palate. There's a lovey honeyed element to the wine that balances the tea leaf notes Chenin can have. Crunchy with terroir out the ass. A cerebral Chenin every time. — 8 years ago

On the first day open, it was kinda disjointed and woody. Lots of bacon and smoke covering unmistakably concentrated fruit. On day 2 it got more savory and herbal. Now on day three the fruit is gorgeous -- ripe but not jammy. Minty-menthol herbal note with spice and great structure. This is why reviewers who base scores on one 90-second encounter can't be trusted. #lodiwine #snoothvt — 10 years ago
