Last night we had close friends over and I stopped to buy a bottle for the gathering. I picked up a Jeraboam of the 2012 Château D'Aiguilhe Comtes Von Neipperg which is made up of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc.
The aromas are of black cherry, blackberry, raspberry, black currant, chocolate, violet, mint, baking spice and earth.
On the palate the nose is confirmed with notes of black cherry, blackberry, black plum, black currant, licorice, spices and wet gravel.
This wine went over very well with our guests though unable to finish the whole jeraboam. The wine is full bodied and very velvety with medium + acidity and medium + sandy tannins that lead into a chocolatey fruit filled finish. A wonderful start to the weekend with friends that always helps make the wine special. Enjoy your weekend and stay safe. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷 — 7 years ago
Tonight's wine is the 2010 Château La Tour Carnet Haut-Mèdoc. 60% Merlot, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot.
The nose gives us black cherry, blueberry, black raspberry, black currant, chocolate, pencil shavings, black pepper and dry soil.
On the palate there is black cherry, plum, blackberry, anise, black currant, violet, vanilla, graphite and earth.
This wine is medium to full bodied that is smooth with medium + acidity and medium + fine sweet tannins that leads to a long pleasing finish. The beginning of the work week is about to start and we need to think about being safe. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷 — 8 years ago
A tart red fruited wine with so much savory. Dried leaves, graphite, iron, cedar and cinnamon stick. Dusty and balanced. Even undertones of herbs way in the back. Such a long wine. @ $28 WS and with a magnum tucked away, this will be a safe bet for a long time to come. 10-15 more years? — 9 years ago

Fleshy, meaty, funky with dark fruit and smoke. Always a pleasure and $13.79 @ dime bag. — 12 years ago
I am more and more convinced that the wines from Chateau La Vieille Cure are made for the pleasure of those who truly love old school Bordeaux. There is absolute nothing modern about them. Dark currants, earth, pencil shavings, olive tapenade, and mushrooms. About as rustic as they come. Tannins are well integrated but the structure is holding fast. While I think it’s safe to say that the 2005 has entered its gradual, graceful decline, I have no doubt in my mind this will deliver the goods for at least a decade. — 6 years ago

I hope everyone has made it to weekend in good shape. Today I picked up the 2014 Château Phélan Ségur St. Estéphe. 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 45% Merlot a typically beautiful St. Estéphe.
The nose is very expressive with notes of raspberries, blackberries, cherries, black plum, black currant, chocolate, herbs, coconut, violets and a nice earth note.
On the palate the nose is confirmed with black cherry, black raspberries, blackberry, black currant, a generous amount of green bell pepper, clove, graphite, light oak and earth.
This wine is full bodied with medium + acidity and medium + firm chewy tannins that leads to a long energetic finish. Have a wonderful weekend and please stay safe. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷 — 8 years ago
One of my favorites!this wine has a light fresh scent with blackberry and smoke aromas. It is medium-full bodied with medium-high acidity and medium round tannins. The fruity blackberry and cherry flavors round off this smooth wine. — 8 years ago
I have opened the 2010 Chateau Cantemerle Haute-Medoc. 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot.
The nose upon first opening is a little tight and at first not willing to show its true self. After awhile this wine starts to open and its true self becomes obvious. With vigorous swirling the red fruit comes through. There is cherry, strawberry, plum, red currant, herbaceous notes, mocha, sweet licorice, sweet oak and violet floral notes.
On the palate we have black cherry, strawberry, plum, raspberry, herbaceousness, mint, slight oak notes and crushed gravel.
The wine is medium to full bodied, medium + acidity, medium + sandy tannins that leads to a long lingering enjoyable finish. This wine is everything I look for in a good Left Bank Bordeaux. Drink now or cellar for another 10 years. Have a great start to your work week and please be safe. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷 — 9 years ago

Here we are on the presipis of a long weekend called Labor Day weekend. I picked up the 2017 Fournier Père et Fils Sancerre Les Belles Vignes. 100% Sauvignon Blanc.
On the nose I am getting apricot, mandarin orange, orange rind, grapefruit and minerality.
On the palate there is beautiful fruit notes of lime, grapefruit, white peach, gooseberry, herbaceous notes and limestone minerality.
This wine is medium bodied with fresh crispness and high acidity that leads into a long mineral and fruit finish that is bone dry. Love this wine. Let me tell you, on the white side Sauvignon Blanc and Chenin Blanc are definitely my go to whites. Sancerre and New Zealand have it going on when it comes to Sauvignon Blanc. Have a great long weekend and please be safe. Nostrovia! 🥂🥂🥂🥂 — 7 years ago
On this Saturday night I have opened the 2014 Réserve De La Comtesse. 59% Cabernet Sauvignon and 41% Merlot the second wine from Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de la Lalande.
On the nose there is sumptuous dark fruit, blackberry, black cherry, black currant, stewed plums, chocolate, a bit of meatiness and tar.
On the palate the dark fruit continues with blackberry, black cherry, black currant, licorice, cedar, smoky oak, mocha and an earthiness.
This wine has a velvety mouth feel an is medium to full bodied with medium + acidity and medium + fine rounded tannin that leads to a delicious lingering finish. Stay safe and continued enjoyable weekend. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷 — 8 years ago

Tonight's wine is the 2017 Ridge Estate Monte Bello Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. A blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot.
The nose has rich dark fruits of black cherry, blackberry, black plum, black currant, licorice, chocolate, violets, graphite and rich earth.
The palate reveals black cherry, blackberry, black currant, green bell pepper, soft toasted oak, graphite, licorice, spice, violet and earth.
This wine is full bodied filling the mouth with rich notes, medium + acidity and medium + mouth coating grippy tannins that moves nicely into a long black fruit finish. This wine does not disappoint for a second wine from Ridge. I hope your week has been going well and we have all been safe and healthy. Let's look forward to the weekend with more openings. Have a great rest of your week. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷 — 6 years ago
