2005 vintage. Decanted. Aromas and flavors of olive, garrigue, leather, iron and black grape skin. Rustic. Mild, dusty tannins. Juicy acid. Paired great w/ filet and garlic butter. Solid value. — 11 years ago

Château Pontet-Canet

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 1945

I was the only one that guessed Bordeaux. Shows again that 45 was a big year for Bordeaux and of course historically. Very light and translucent in the glass. Has a rustic ness to it that is very attractive and the fruit has a sweetness that captures what this might have been when younger. Great finish. — 11 years ago

Enfer D'Arvier Petit Rouge 2011

Smoky-gamey macerated wild strawberries with mint. On the palate, surprisingly light and fruity, riper berry concentration, medium acidity, and low tannins. DOC regulations require 85% Petit Rouge, the most widely planted grape in the region, but this is 100%. Medium licorice finish. Overall, this is a more rustic Gamay and quite pleasant.
