Winemaker Joseph J. Wagner is a 4th generation winemaker from a family with farming and winemaking roots in the Napa Valley since 1906. Deep Ruby (darkest Pinot almost looks like a Cab) with aromas of ripe berries and spice notes. The palate shows rich black fruits, blackberries, plums and black cherries, vanilla spice, cedar and cacao. Rich soft tannins, firm acidity on lingering finish ending with mineral tones. Nice! — 9 years ago
Best saison I've ever had. Near perfect beer. Bottle conditioned. Dry apricot, lemon peel, fresh hay, saison funk, it goes on and on to a bone dry, and tart finish. — 9 years ago
Red fruit, dirty, rustic, fabulous. — 10 years ago

Studiously background-y. Rustic and mineral-driven; a perfect pizza pairing. — 10 years ago
Is it possible to be ethereal and rustic at the same time? — 11 years ago
Smoky-gamey macerated wild strawberries with mint. On the palate, surprisingly light and fruity, riper berry concentration, medium acidity, and low tannins. DOC regulations require 85% Petit Rouge, the most widely planted grape in the region, but this is 100%. Medium licorice finish. Overall, this is a more rustic Gamay and quite pleasant.

It’s not overly sweet. Perfect balance of sweet with hint of fruity tang. Would surly buy again! #its5oclocksomewhere — 8 years ago
I gave up on Pegau after too many disappointing bottles. This one was super clean - glorious aromatics. Palate was herbaceous with dark fruit, tannic and rustic. Delicious! — 8 years ago
I still love this Pinot but the 2011 was amazing I drank at least a case. It does not have the same feel seems more heavy with darker fruit notes. — 9 years ago
A lighter nose with a palate of cranberry, strawberry and a light zesting of orange. A darker, deeper rosé with a long fruity finish. — 9 years ago

Easy drinking Grenache-based blend. Rustic and herbal, yet well-put-together, much like myself? #poormansbandol — 9 years ago
Drank over the course of 4 hours, very tight at first but after a while in the decanter it opened beautifully, very powerful and rustic. Roasted meat, olives, pepper, blackberry. — 9 years ago
An excellent expression of Cornas with a healthy age on it. Last of several bottles I bought in 2012 or 2013. Earthy, mushrooms, and a touch of anise on the nose and mouth. Rustic Syrah from the Northern Rhone by an old master. — 9 years ago
Hay, beautiful fruit but this win is all about structure and rustic grace — 10 years ago

Rustic, fatty and old school. Pairs perfectly with a fatty ribeye.

1993 Georges de Voguet. Fathers Day dinner w mnd, IK, and K at Carl. Remarkably young tasting. Opened up a lot after 30 min in the glass. Rustic, really full-bodied. Didn’t have that prettiness or softness that the Leroys often have. — 7 years ago
