Very impressed by the Palmas series, a special release of “en rama” sherries from selected casks from the Tío Pepe solera. Traditionally, cellarmasters in Jerez would mark exceptional casks with a chalk drawing of a palm tree branch (palma in Spanish), potentially adding more branches if those wines continued to show finesse and delicacy as they aged. To make the selection, González Byass’ invites different guests (mostly wine critics and somms) every year, an honor that befell Ferran Centelles (El Bulli) in 2020.
The 2020 Una Palma comes from three casks from the Tio Pepe solera with 6 years of aging under flor, bottled unfined and unfiltered (en rama). Sharp nose with notes of almonds, yeast and hints of citrus. Fresh, mineral and very saline. Much more intense aromas and flavors than the regular Tio Pepe — 3 years ago

Отличная риоха с мягким вкусом, прекрасно сочетается с ягнятиной — 8 years ago
Spicy and very earthy for a Tempranillo. It has a grape berry flavor but definitely overpowered by the earthiness which results in a sour tarty flavor. Nice deep nose. Interesting but very much likes Shiraz. Has a nice sweet lingering in the back of the throat. Love that - 2014 vintage — 9 years ago
Bone dry and beautiful: roasted nuts, rosemary, apples, and pears. A savory delight — 9 years ago

Sainsburys. As before - easy drinking, decent price point, nothing spectacular but would drink again. — 3 years ago
the kind of depth i like in a red. zesty blackberry- like a cobbler but cool. — 3 years ago
Looks like a bourbon. Aromas of walnuts, balsamic, and caramelization. Tasty and Sweet. An excellent option for a dessert wine. Kind of like a pecan liquor without the high alcohol content. — 3 years ago
Absolutely fantastic 20 year old-ish manzanilla pasada. Fabulous golden straw colour, rix and complex with tons of intense walnut and toffee aromas. You almost imagine it will be sweet but bone dry as ever, in the mouth. Was still drinking well a day after opening, too.
I wonder who made it in Sanlúcar though? It seems like a special edition made FOR González Byass rather than by them. — 7 years ago
Very smooth, like it — 8 years ago
Nice aged aroma, deep red full of flavor amazing with a medium steak and sautéed onions and mushrooms. — 8 years ago

Aitor Egaña
First it is important to point out that even though is a cabernet sauvignon this is a white wine, it is very fruit forward, mainly red apple, dried fruit and even some cherry on the nose which is not common for a whit wine, even though is fruity on the palate is not overly sweet and has a very nice dry finish. — 3 years ago
