This beer and brewery make some of the best priced IPA's and other brews, their Regular IPA I buy often and think it is wonderful, this one is very good, but beware, this is so hoppy and big in malt and bitterness, which is not bad if you are a hop head like me, but the balance is not there, the hops take over everything!!! Still very good, just a lot more of a good thing is not always good, but I still like this a lot, if it was more well balanced it would be excellent — 11 years ago

Amazing Brew, Excellent example of a truly great west coast IPA, this is the reason beer lovers from other countries are seeking out these fine brews, Germany was always the true brew masters, but even Germans are giving high praises to brew like this one, talk to people in the UK and they are blown away my this brew and others from Firestone and Stone, Balast Point, really great to see this happening here in the Great USA, Proud to call this brew as OURS! — 12 years ago

This brings takes me back sometime in the early 80's when I first had this, at the time this was a truly one of a kind brew, not true by today's standards, still good for those who find S.N. I would classify this under "refreshing." Tons of IPAs are bold, sock you in the nose hoppy. This backs off the IBUs just slightly and adds a slight fruity/lemony finish that is, well, refreshing. I feel sorry for everyone who doesn't live in California and likely can't get their hands on nice craft brews like this. — 11 years ago

Barrel aging removes some of the harshness but ramps up the subtleties. Complex beer. Closer to other traditional barrel aged brews than an IPA. Delicious but could be overly sweet for some. — 11 years ago
