Earthy and not giving away much initially, was worried after 20 mins. By 30 it blossomed, full on cassis and vanilla tannins, undergrowth. Dark red fruit, Rutherford dust. I don’t drink Groth often, but when I do I enjoy it. This is certainly a wine I wouldn’t mind having a case or two of for entertaining guests of varying palates. I loved this Washington cab. It pours a dark rust red. The fruit is full with cherries and raspberries. The finish is short and not notable. But besides that I thought it was outstanding. This is beyond just a daily drinker. It accompanied the prime New York steak we had with it very well. On sale at Pavilions it was a steal for $10. — 6 years ago
