This is rich, full throttle Riesling that has ripe apple, pear and orange peel fruit with just a touch of mineral and petrol. Lush and dense on the palate with superb intensity. Shows some smokiness on the nose. On the palate it has spicy notes up front, a little lemon, followed by strong apricot, and some golden apple. A hint of French vanilla the flint/smoke on the finish. Well-balanced, though it had a hint of bitter artificial grape on the finish that went away after some decanting meaning it probably needed some more time in the bottle. Overall, probably not the best Rangen producer, but it's definitely still a Rangen :) — 8 years ago

Really awesome Riesling - a fun trip down memory lane. The nose is just pure heaven with an extremely rich palate. Not quite as much acidity as on their Rangen grand crus but really decadent and easy drinking. Turns me into a Kid at a candy shop. $18/glass at Sepia — 8 years ago
