This was a Christmas gift from Raina, and as she leaves tomorrow for a 5-month gig at Busch Gardens, we thought it fitting to open and toast. The nose has that soy-saucey quality that old wine often gets, as well as a dirty, musty aroma. The color is extremely light, and very brown. Almost like the color of tea. Thin in body, but surprisingly vibrant on the palate for being nearly 50 years old, with good acid, a whisper of tannins and even some red fruit. Always fun to try really old stuff like this, especially from such a storied wine region. — 9 years ago

Yuuuu-my! Raina got a great discount on this bottle (she paid $35 for a 750mL bottle.) Super intense nose. Mint and white flowers. Pleasantly oxidative. Honey, acid, minerals. Yummy. — 9 years ago
