Base vintage 1972, a phenomenal example of aged Rioja from the best in the business! Body, character and flavor of old Burgundy. — 5 years ago
— a year ago
2015. By the time we added this delicious Burgundy to the table while we were still enjoying the Diel Extra Brut Sekt and the R. Lopez de Heredia Vina Tondonia Gran Reserva Rosato it created a perfect spectrum of colors and flavors to match the dishes prepared by the Boiler Room chefs. A great way to usher in the New Year! — 2 years ago
Impressive for a Crianza to offer such complexity and elegance. Classic raisinated black and red fruits on the nose with pencil shavings, dried herbs, and mushroom. Subtle tannins, with relaxed mouth feel. — 7 years ago
Popped and poured; enjoyed over two days. Better on Day 2. The 2017 Rosé pours a unique copper gold color with medium viscosity; no signs of particles or gas. On the nose, the wine is developing with fascinating notes of black lemon, bruised pink apple, raspberry, marjoram, tarragon, and dry earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with perceptible but low tannin and high acid. Confirming the notes on the nose with the addition of a somewhat nutty characteristic reminiscent of spiced almonds. The finish is medium+ and savory. A wine for thinking. Similar to the R. Lopez de Heredia wines: if you like the white, you will like the rosé. Just lovely. Drink now with patience and a slight chill; best after 2027 through 2037. — a year ago
Crazy orange color. Nose mostly closed with some dried fruit and dried floral notes. Reminiscent of white Rioja (e.g. R. López de Heredia Viña Tondonia, Gravonia) by its waxy dried apricot notes and overall dried fruit aspect - but much more fruity and a very good food wine. Very much easier than the Tondonia; I like but others may not. Too bad. — 4 years ago
Wonderful finding this bottle after forgetting it was there. Still fresh but with the distinct hazelnut notes that come with age. Light gold in color.medium nose with notes of lemon, cream brûlée, hazelnut, green apple and honeysuckle. Medium body, alcohol and acidity. Medium plus finish. Reminds me of a younger R. López de Heredia Viña Tondonia Gran Reserva. — 8 years ago

2015. Wasn’t sure what to pair with this delicious Filipino rice dish with longanisa, chicken, and cumin crab fat butter (likely a wide range of whites, rosés, and lighter reds would work well), but I wanted to try this Spanish Crianza and it was wonderful! The fruit flavors were enough to complement the sweet sausage and the smooth tannins cut through the richness without intensifying the spice. — 6 months ago
