Pago del Cielo Celeste Crianza Ribera del Duero Tempranillo 2013

Delicious, big classic tempranillo. Paired with an Italian sausage ragu one night and filet mignon the next. Best wine we found in the BC provincial liquor store and a bargain at about CDN$25. — 9 years ago

Château d'Ampuis Côte-Rôtie Syrah

For a young Côte Rotie This is very expressive. White Pepper, floral notes of lavender and provincial herbs. Juicy black berry fruit Flavors with fairly soft tannins. Going great with my bone-in ribeye. 👍 — 9 years ago

Decadent nose of vanilla raspberry spiciness with provincial herbs lingering. Dry tannin up front balanced by a juicy shot of acidity on the finish. Solid fruit presence but the peppery 2011 vintage is more my style. — 10 years ago

Boréal Vin de Pays des Côtes Catalanes Red Blend 2010

Pop and poured at cellar temp and this was already showing an amazing mix of fresh provincial herbs, green olive, dried flowers, black pepper, charred meat and crushed blackberry. As it warmed in the glass, it gained richness and intensity. Like pure silk on the palate, yet lifted and fresh, showing black fruit, sage, violet Pop and poured at cellar temp and this was already showing an amazing mix of fresh provincial herbs, green olive, dried flowers, black pepper, charred meat and crushed blackberry. Cerbaiona

Cerbaiona di Diego Molinari Brunello di Montalcino 2010

Stunning for its finesse contrasted by remarkable elegance, the 2010 Cerbaiona provides a bouquet of lifted red fruits, exotic spice, provincial herbs, and pretty red floral tones. The textures were silky and refined, hovering on the palate, with notes of fresh savory herbs, green olive, and ripe black cherry, which seemed to swing back and forth from sweet to savory. A coating of fine tannin saturated the senses with hints of cherry and herbs on the long finish. — 10 years ago

I love old fashioned Chateauneuf! This had all of the flesh and dark fruit of its warm, southern origin as well as the distinctive herbs-de-Provence aroma that only comes from here. It was as close to heavy as it could be without going over the top and went very well with the grilled sausage. Is this style extinct? I haven't had a bottle of CNDP from this century that wasn't too fat for me.
