Mid Ruby in colour. Aromas of menthol. On the palate again, virtually no fruit at 15 years - ultra savoury with sandy, tarry, fine powdery, yet persistent tannins. This was a great match with Roast Lamb for Mother’s Day in Australia. No. 3086 of 10,000 bottles. All I wanted to drink all night with fresh tomatoes, mozzarella & pizza. Lots of wet earth/upturned soil/underbrush stuff (pastures, orchards, woodlands) happening on the nose. This is a 50 years anniversary special Riserva. It is currently available. While the color shows already quite some brownish textures, the wine is still very fresh with nice acidity and tannins. It is very round and balanced.
