This is an exciting pet Nat. Sweet Malvasia. Cloudy thick and primitive. Honeysuckle. Beer wine. Will go great with Thai. — 10 years ago
Needs 24 hrs to open up and get happy, supple with primitive tannins, sweet fruit and gravel - 2012 vintage — 10 years ago
Gotta confess that I just love Primitivo wines. Nothing to do with my primitive mind and only in part fueled by my primo interest in a great bargain. These wines are pleasure to drink, fruity, open and friendly without a cheap streak in their character — 10 years ago
That's one serious brew. 2700 bottles, out of PA. — 10 years ago
Wow. A dusty primitive with Riesling like fruit acid. Tons of pairing potential. — 12 years ago
Brambly dark fruits with lots of skin tannins and feral qualities. This wine is more "primitive" in style but contemplative in a very good way. — 10 years ago
More primitive style of Northern Rhone, but more accessible than its predecessors. Savory, meaty, and leathery with purple flowers and trying to smell like black olives. Plenty of acidity and great balance. — 10 years ago
2011 WOW my friend Sal gave it to me. Primitivo is Zin right? wrong! It's f***ing primitive! — 11 years ago
Great purity, just a bit taut right now. Should resolve nicely. There are some deep, leafy, earthy aromatics. Oak is judged well. This has nice freshness to it. Definitely on the rustic side. Jenna thinks it's "dirty and dusty like licking the floor of a primitive structure." It is very hot to her as well, both nasally and to drink. The wine Polaner calls blood orange on this bottling and Camus' other VV Savigny bottling. He is completely right we both agree. 85 year old vines. A solid value for the cellar. Jenna says the quality of this is like unfiltered Honest Tea to clean and bright Steaz. This is a touch more muddled at the moment with a bit of bitterness but I am confident this will clarify and integrate nicely with time. Old school for purists. Jenna says it's "minty and herbal, fennel or anise." Definitely anise/fennel. Some balsamicky older barrel aromas and also nuttier newer oak aromas, too. Good balance. This really does have some soil aromas to it. A touch hot (alcohol) right but I imagine it will cool down with some time in bottle. — 11 years ago
