Superb color; good stain on the cork. Deep cherry nose with rich Pinot flavors. Lovely balance and aftertaste. Good for another 10 years. — 7 years ago
A beautiful under the radar Bordeaux, fresh, silky, completely quaffable but still serious enough — 8 years ago
Declassified Bordeaux. Phenomenal wine. — 8 years ago
Great paring with lamb stew. You know It's good when you go for the decanter to pour yourself another glass and it's empty! — 9 years ago
Reliable, delicious, and reasonable. Slightly on the fruitier end of the Bordeaux spectrum - gorgeous blackberry, plum and cassis, balanced by delicious chocolate, exotic tobacco, and good spice. Good acidity provides incredible length. Always amazing for the price. — 3 months ago
2005 vintage. Beautiful nose, with cassis, blackberries, cedar wood, a little smokiness, and flowers. Seriously concentrated, combining power and elegance. Layers of fruit in a tight but ripe tannic structure. Showing beautifully now, but it should age effortlessly for decades. Classic Saint-Julien. — 4 months ago
Deep ruby. Tobacco, ash, graphite, tons of French oak. Pyrazene. Rather juicy and just ripe fruit - mix of dark and red currants, and red plums. Tarter on palate. Very structured. Called it a left bank 2018 Margaux……… — 9 months ago
Spices and nice dark and red fruit on the nose and palate, nice balance, medium bodied plus with a soft texture of tannins, good. 89-90
Notes constantes, un beau fruit, des épices, bien équilibré, assez puissant mais sans excès, des tannins approchables et de belle texture. 89-90 — 3 years ago

Pretty, pretty pretty. Cellar stuffer. Lovely little drinker. 2011 — 9 years ago
Really a wonderful St J and a crazy value as a 2nd wine. Lovely pairing with roast rack of lamb with garlic / rosemary / mustard. In a good window but could take more time honestly. Wonderful acid, quite deep fruit, long finish, tannins still very there, delicious. — 4 months ago

Oldschool Classic at it’s best!
Surprisingly fresh in the nose with black currant leaf, a pleasant greenness, pencil shavings and a plethora of tertiary aromas.
On the palate this is rather light bodied with still quite youthful grippy tannins, juicy acidity and great length.
This is poised, has presence and really good length.
Classic!! — 2 years ago
Very profound nose which reminded me of a couple of bottles I had of clos du marquis. I said saint Julien but wasn’t sure. Blackcurrant, coffee, meat, tea... different layers. I was pretty sure at that point that it was a grand cru classé... the palate is not that wide and powerful. I thought then grand cru classé but in a small recent year. 2011 or 2013. The palate was evolving around an acid backbone with fine tannins and a lovely yet discreet fruit. Moderately long finish with fruit, coffee again and a pinch of salt. I finally went for haut marbuzet 2011. I was far away from it! Always trust a first impression. Superb nose, palate a bit under delivering when the nose raises such expectations. Overall lovely and well done. — 6 years ago
Blackberries & plums; gamey quality almost hidden in its elegance; a very poised & pretty crozes! — 8 years ago
Tasty. And why not? It's New Years Eve. very Good. — 8 years ago
When you can't get your hands on grand cru classes, a nice second or third wine from the chateaux ain't so bad. This needed to open but when it did, every sip was supple, balanced with notes of dark fruit. — 9 years ago

A accidentally find in my cellar it’s a huge mess! This is what Burghs are all about. This one needs air. Plenty of tannins left should go for another 4 years or so. Crushed Marble, Port wine notes, touch cherry 🍒, hint cinnamon, tree bark, touch bitter, black tea notes. Tomorrow more after 24h’s on the Argon line. Mellowed further out. — 2 months ago
