Extremely sweet dessert wine, with a good docile profile to back it up. A great surprise to end a great evening with. — 10 years ago
Wow, this shows the extreme difference between botrytis infected👎(inflected) 👎wines and non. Last night, 97 knoll, Gruner Smargd. Tonight, 97 Prager Riesling Smargd ( non botrytis inflected/ infected)
What a frickin delish non infected wine. Prager; absolutely gorgeous after 18 years! Bright yellow with incredible depth of fruit while still having amazing acidity at this age. The Knoll , While drinkable, was past its prime.
sign me up for Prager, Niholiahof & Alzinger (among others) — 10 years ago
1997 vintage. Outstanding — 11 years ago
One of my favorite whites of the year. Dry and powerful but hedonistic. Thank you #RoyWelland!

Wow what a beautiful body. Bruised apple up front and solid core cantaloupe slight petrol. Beautiful full long body. Short finish — 12 years ago
Love! Slight sweetness still stand alone drinkable. Beautiful golden color. — 12 years ago
Best ever. Napa valley — 13 years ago

Best domestic Grüner I've ever had. Lots of green, ripe citrus and orchard fruits, lees influence, and varietal savories (lentil, radish, parsnip, pea purée). 12.7% alcohol puts this in ripe, clean federspiel territory. Similar to Prager or FX in style. There's something special in the Columbia Gorge, I think. Anyone know if this is loess over decomposed basalt in the vineyard? — 11 years ago
Just amazing! — 11 years ago
I think these wines are out of the insanely ripe and partially botrytised zone they were in in the '05-'10 era. The new wines, are poised, fresh, but man is there still a lot of horse power under the hood. Not as squeaky clean as F.X. Pichler or Prager, and the better for it. — 11 years ago
Sweet, complex ... Cherry, blueberries, strawberries. , — 12 years ago

Silky, moderate flavor but ultimately complex — 10 years ago
Nutty, orange rind, and chocolate. M+ acid and M sweetness. M+ intensity. On the palate, raisin, dried fruit, cherry, caramel and orange. Long finish. — 10 years ago
2011 vintage. Light golden hue. Mineral, chalky, peaches and stone fruits to the fore. Quite ripe. On the palate, dry (probably more than 4g of residual but acidity masks the sugar), medium plus body, high alcohol, high extract, long and persistent finish and huge refreshing, tangy acidity, especially on the finish. Peaches and apricots, lemon zest from the acidity, crisp and long textured wine with real weight. Love it. More similar to an Alsatian Riesling than a Mosel/Rheingau Riesling, and although weighty, no noticeable TDN notes or lime juice zest of a High Eden or Clare Valley Aussie Riesling. — 11 years ago
Highest acidity, longest finish... 1986 vintage — 11 years ago
