Dark, complicated. Bought in Port Townsend WA. Earth, tobacco and chocolate on the nose. Complex long tannic. Blueberry. Complicated the best Pinot of the trip. Met the winemaker interesting guy. ---------- Ok here is Suzanna another old friend she thinks fruit and tannins - tobacco under feeling. good velvet silky. Britannia Creek White Blend

Delicious and funky. Co-fermentation gives it a lovely combined feeling with a delicious richness full mouth feel and lightly bitter critic acidity. I had it with a pork and it was 10/10 — 10 years ago

Latricières Chambertin Grand Cru Pinot Noir

Wild. Unsure what exactly to expect since the reputation was "he did something to the wine". Barrel samples were off the hizzie, but the final product just seemed to skew so modern. And then a jillion years later.. it is still such.

Dark dark dark. Cherry cherry cherry. Opened rather nicely post decant. A multitide of flavors and aromas greeted us over the course of the next hour. Sweet, almost port like without the heat. Cool. @northforktable

D.I.P.A Double India Pale Ale

This is in your face West Coast IPA, here on the west coast we honor and cherish this beers, these are the ones that started the DIPA beers, this brewery in fact was one of the first, West coast IPA's San Diego brewery, multiple locations, Associated with Port brewery and Lost Abbey, big hops, big malts, we still crave and need these beers, when everyone else is going to the tame and mellow DIPA's it is very good to see this brewery remaining true to what they do, Just Like Stone brewery, in cans, big plus, stays fresher longer, All IPA's and DIPA's should be in cans, Excellent DIPA, in the style, West Coast all the way, no mistake of that — 9 years ago

Mornington Peninsula Chardonnay

Nice clean pale yellow, nose if stone fruits and French oak. Good acidity and fruit purity and line and length. Good persistence. Maybe just overdone on the oak so that it has an austere rather than flinty style. But that is being picky. Good wine. — 9 years ago

Special Reserve Porto Moniz Malvasia

This is a great little secret Madeira under the RWC label. Not one of their cheaper varietal blends, as solid as they are - this is more special, unique stuff. According to RWC, this was a Favilla Vieira Madeira discovered by Ricardo Freitas with no vintage date but an estimated age of 40-50 years old when bottled in 2010. There is also a Verdelho. I preferred this Malvasia when I first opened them together a few months back, as it was just as complex but richer and denser. It's actually streamlined itself considerably over the last few months - do NOT open this if you are in the mood for one of those treacly sweet, port-like malvasias. This is highly acidic (RWC notes that it comes from the cool northwest side of the island), lime-juicy and angular, still having a vivid green tinge in the glass. In fact it feels only a tick sweeter than the Verdelho at this point and might even come across dryer than the Verdelho did when first opened. Buzzes with all sorts of cool energy, even seems to have a shisito-pepper-like snap, and at this point the top notes are dominant although of course there is also some deeper dried fruit nuances underneath. — 10 years ago

Swami's India Pale Ale

A true classic, first ever IPA brewed in San Diego, my all time favorite place for IPA's holds up pretty well after 20 plus years, nice citrus and tropical notes, less of course than current IPA's, but overall solid IPA, and as I said it is a classic, if you in SD, and are a beer Geek, it is a must to try, esp on tap, have a growler filled up right now, excellent brew — 10 years ago
