The Polo Bar might be the most "sceney" restaurant in New York. The walls are adorned by hundreds of paintings of horses, wood paneling and leather is everywhere. The aesthetic is utterly on point and on brand.

We drank this fabulous Sonoma mountain Cab from Anakota. Deep, dark, quite dense, highly structured and with an intensity of fruit that gives the impression that this will be very long lived. Suffice to say it was perfect with the well executed, uncomplicated American fare (New York Strip Steak for me). — 8 years ago

Bright, very bright. Not blinding, but definitely bright enough to warrant the figurative mouth sunglasses. The first swig is almost aggressive in it's tang - very fruity and held together with some acidity (the partnership works well). Then it hangs around a little, showing off it's body, which is fairly stocky like a water polo player without being the least bit overweight. It climbs out of the mouth-pool rather quickly, as if it weighed but a feather, dripping a little trail of mineral taste as it heads for the locker room, leaving you wondering how such a robust body can still seem so light and how it can start out almost sweet and finish almost dry. And how bad this review is. (I have no idea what I'm talking about.) But it's a solid wine - really solid. — 12 years ago

First nose hit is an explosion blasting of black powder mellowing to burnt dark chocolate cast against a pot of mashed rutabaga strangely accented by cherry - a dirty mix not match - "it makes me wonder..." All that lingers, as I pull a first blush taste across and through my lips letting it pool while its vege tannins play water polo with the fruit ultimately merging into a tie that settles nicely but with a less than fortunate short finish - spent from the unresolved conflict where the action above succumbs to the tredding battle below the rim. If you are able or even interested swimmer, then take a shallow dive into this sweat weathered pool, nasty but rewarding...
