Holy f***. This is unbelievable. Beautiful golden color and current vintage. Poached pear, tangerine and chopped walnut--and strangely enough, an almost garlicky note. Palate is a burst of flavors alternating between green mango, yellow apple and kumquat. Juicy, round, with a slight oily texture and driven by a wonderful streak of acidity. Oh my heavens. I could wax poetic about Vietti all day. Violets and crushed purple roses jump out of the glass, followed by tart bramble fruits, high acid, and gripping tannins. Nebbiolos smell like the Deep South in summer: wisteria and hot asphalt. — 10 years ago
