Deeply concentrated, quite inky color. Primary, embryonic notes of cassis, bitter apple pip, black fruits. The tannin structure is firm, chalky, long. Needs time and will improve. — 8 years ago
Woah. Hit this up as a bit of a refresher on Spain but it didn't really typify Tempranillo. Thankfully it was delicious. Indian mulberry, cherry pip, spice, jasmine, raw meat and slightly sweet oak. Exotic to smell and delicious to drink, expansive with brisk acidity and grippy tannin profile. I'd drink a lot more temp if all was like this. — 9 years ago
Some confusion on identifying this. To be clear, this bottle is 52% Grenache 36% Carignan 12% Syrah. Fascinating nose of dried black cherry, smoky leather, and sultry lavender spice. Reserved palate that leans slightly towards acid. Center stage is taken by hairy tannins and a deep rich nuanced back palate and finish. Black spice and fruit, like cherries, a vanilla bean and a pip of star anise dried in a brick oven and set next to a steely leather saddle. Kudos to the blend here: each varietal speaks distinctly, and together they make a bottle with nuance WAY above its $12 price tag. If you like bone dry Syrah-ish reds, you owe yourself a bottle of this. — 9 years ago
Enjoyed with Billy and Pip at Mourad. Smooth and pairs nicely with our chicken. — 9 years ago
Inky purple in color. Some vegetal in nose initially, cherry, dark plum and cedar in nose. Cedar, lemon pip, blackberry and cherry in finish. Good acidity, aged remarkably well. — 10 years ago

This nose cones on slowly, smokily..
Dark fruits here - lots of seeded - pip action. Roasted violets, crushed pomegranate, complete with rind and pith. High acid fruits slap those first fruit thoughts right out of the glass. Bing cherry and jolly rancher fruits soar with the acidity in how this ends.

Clearly handled must very gently, no excessive extract of pip or skin tannin that I associate with new world Pinot. Gorgeous nose, violets, and super pure raspberry and strawberry aromas immediately. Opened nicely in glass 30 mins in — 9 years ago
Bright energy, great fruit, stainless clarity and focus. — 10 years ago
Great straight out of the bottle but even better when you let it breathe a while. Dark heavy cherries with a touch of mint. Slight funk. Long finish with some pip like tannins. — 10 years ago
My favorite Chardonnay for the money. Peaches and vanilla with toast and citrus. — 10 years ago
Pale straw in colour, autumnal leaf/grass notes.
Phenolic/bitterness balances a dry palate and white stone fruit pip. Glycerol/Flabby texture from ripe/alcoholic fruit.
Medium bodied, ripe and dry style for day drinking. Delicious with Spicy Ahi Poke bowl. — 7 years ago
Fruity floral on the nose. Smooth finish. Enjoyed with rib eye steak — 9 years ago
It's @BonnyDoon Vineyard Ciliegiolo #rosato and it's delicioso. stony Strawberry juice with the little wild pip bitters. Fantastic texture and balance. — 9 years ago
Delicious Alsace Riesling. The nose hints at tropical fruits (fresh pineapple and papaya), with a core of ripe citrus - flesh, pith and pip - as well as something that calls to mind sandstone. The palate is dry, light to medium bodied and intensely fresh, fruity and even, leading into a long, mouthwatering finish of preserved lemon and grapefruit pith. — 10 years ago

Pearl and pip - a delightful little blend of Grenache, Shiraz and Carignan from the south-west of France. An explosion of fruit with velvety tannins. Perfect with a Halloween terrine to celebrate 3 years of Versant Vins! — 11 years ago

Antique gold, just-opaque with low foam and unlaced. Briny, funky, pickle-y peaches, with a pickled persimmon side hustle. Cherry pip and crabapple with old black pepper aromas. Pickled lemon, orange and lime coat the surfacing pickled peach with cloves and leek. — 6 years ago
