Love, love, love this wine from an ex maker of the revered Penfolds Grange and instigator of RWT.
A gem of a wine that punches well above its price point. 18 was a good vintage but this is already drinking well with some development. It’s going to be stellar in 6-8 years. — 4 years ago
Really good Shiraz that is starting to age well. Plenty of heavy blackcurrant, diesel and menthol with a finish that is long and complex. This will get smoother over time but it drinks well now. Only complaint is that there was a lot of sediment, meaning the last eighth of the bottle was lost (unfortunately no decanter available). Great Penfolds example without the huge Grange pricing. — 6 years ago
I'm always down for a Penfolds. — 10 years ago
Lovely, very refreshing light yet full with flavor! Super yummy! Funny the guy next toe heard me talking about it with the waitress and he decided to order a glass... He just gave me a nod of approval and a wink with a "nice choice chap" comment.😊 — 11 years ago
Purchased at Trader Joe's about $5.99.

Выпито в Ланголо 30.10.20 из нового подарочного антикварного декантера. Неплохой Шираз 2017 года от Penfolds. Но особого впечатления не произвёл. — 5 years ago
Pleasant and balanced with warm fruit and dusty oak good value. — 7 years ago
Just balanced thread of Shiraz pepper and velvet consistency on the tongue. Will age very well, but very good now also. — 8 years ago
Smells like winter ❄️ menthol, apple, toasty, creamy, touch of honey on the nose. The taste lemongrass, rose petal... Gives you a silky tongue 🌹😛 — 10 years ago

The first vintage of Bin 150 was 2008 so this 2010 was probably the best to that point. Very dark Ruby in colour - impenetrable. The nose has blood plum and blackberry with mocha and cocoa aromas. The palate is rich, dense and full bodied. Opulent with blackberry and dark chocolate. Built to last for decades. A very Barossa Penfolds Shiraz. — 9 months ago
Deep Ruby , narrow ruby pink rim . Mint , cassis , blackberry , eucalyptus. On the palate lots of dark cassis , spiced blackberry, dark cherry . High quite gritty tannin , balanced acidity . Medium length , chocolate tinged finish . This is quite austere and closed at present in comparison to the other wines in this line up , the tannins need will need more time than the Bin 389 to round out . This is also less juicy with drier tannin than the Bin 389. With more time in the glass this started to show a more nuanced , mineral and tobacco side to it . This improve over a further 10 -12 years or so and last well a further 10 — 10 months ago
Dark red, moderate legs, cherry on the nose. Red fruit, hints of spicy cassis. Smooth, long, finish with something un- identifiable ( due to COVid). Paula’s Birthday at Briquettes steak house in Mobile AL- bacon wrapped fillet mignon, baked potato, grilled veggies & key lime pie. — 4 years ago

I don’t have much experience with the Bin 407 from Penfolds compared to others in the portfolio, but I was curious to see how this was drinking at 20yrs after recently getting locally for a steal.
100% Cabernet Sauvignon
Even knowing this is cab, I still expected a Penfolds Shiraz type aromatic, and while I didn’t exactly get that, the American Oak in the background alongside the ripe fruit do help bring Penfolds semi in to focus. This needed about 90mins in bottle to wake up…initially I was concerned I had missed a window as it was very stewed and fig dominant (not much fruit). The American Oak notes started appearing (faint coconut and dill) and then high toned red fruits. After 90mins, the palate bulked up and showed some black fruits, cassis, espresso, and even some Andes mint at the finish. Plenty of tannin too.
I’d open soon if you have any left, but give it some time to wake up. (Yes, the ‘94 Monte Bello was insanely good, as was the still young ‘06 Unico). — 8 months ago
