Wow! This is my favorite PS! Right from the pour, it is dark inky midnight black color. Massive black and blue fruits with spice. Lip smacking tannins. This will easily last two decades plus. Which is good since I have some of these for my daughters 21st birthday. Had to try one today for her 2nd birthday. — 7 years ago
Enjoyed this wine at a memorable wine tasting held at the Getty Villa in Malibu/Pacific Palisades. Excellent example of an Italian red nurtured in volcanic soil. Really fun to drink as well, with fruit, earth, minerals and moderate tannins. A balanced and enjoyable Old World red. — 9 years ago
Decanted about 4 hours. Youthful in the glass; purplish hue with a ruby rim. I detect crushed black currants, boysenberry jam, spring hyacinth along with hints of camphor and toast on the nose. The palate starts off smooth as silk, opening to tart berries, green pepper, crushed rocks, some savory herbs. Youthful acidity! The flavor profile is a bit atypical for SLD; more polished and graceful than neighboring properties. However, you can sense the fruit was small and concentrated, the result of allowing the vines to struggle. Having visited the winery many times, I'm transported there; in the shadow of rocky palisades, the hot afternoon sun beating down on the vineyard. Finishes with some heat, tones of white pepper linger. While this wine has the structure to continue to evolve with time, the prime drinking window is closing. As @Ron R would say, 'Get after it!' — 9 years ago
This anejo tastes like brandy! Maybe they all do; I’m no tequila expert. To me, however, it was a revelation. After keeping the bottle entombed in its special painted box for a decade and a half, my wife Dreama and I enjoyed this nectar with terrific sushi at Pearl Dragon in Pacific Palisades, sharing it with Ryo, Johnny and Eric, the superb itamae/server crew who always takes care of us there. — 7 years ago

The 35 acre Eisele Vineyard has an interesting history, named after its original owners. Originally planted in the 19th Century, the Vineyard became recognised as a special terroir when Ridge and then Joseph Phelps purchased grapes to craft rich complex wines. In 1990 Bart and Daphne Araujo purchased the Vineyard located southeast of Calistoga st the foot of the Palisades Mountains. The wine is 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Cabernet Franc aged in 100% new French Oak barrels for 22 months. The wine is very dark crimson - amazing for its age. Aromas of Cassis Blackberry with touch of mint which became more apparent with time in Decanter. On the palate Rich profound and concentrated but held in balance finishing with silky supple Tannins. The oak has melded seamlessly. I see from the label they have used Bordeaux based Oenologist Michel Rolland who consults to wineries around the world. Not unlike Quilceda Creek in my limited USA experience. A joy to drink with 5 to 8 more years of great drinking left in it. — 7 years ago
