Barberani Vallesanta Orvieto Classico DOC, Umbria 2012 Grechetto, Trebbiano Procanico £7.50 Wine Society Restrained nose that has some ripe peach, melon and grape notes, a touch of white flower and hint of nut. Palate shocked slightly as I had not clocked that this was an Amabile (off dry style) Orvieto. I was expecting a rather thin acidic wine but this has obviously had some decent skin contact and residual sugar giving it a wonderful, full mouthfeel of ripe, ever so slightly sweet stone fruits with the acidity swinging in on the length making it incredibly fresh as well as luxuriant. 90pts — 12 years ago
