This has subdued cherry and raspberry fruit, with vanilla, black pepper, oak, leather, and graphite. Acidity is medium, and tannins are strong but silky. Overall it's a nice balance. — 8 years ago

I wasn't really familiar with this appellation, so I did a little research (I.e. Looked at Wikipedia). To be clear, this is not the sweet, fortified red wine that was the only product allowed under the appellation until recently. This is a dry table wine that would have been sold under Cotes du Rhone Village until about 2010 when "Rasteau" was allowed to include dry reds. If I bought this under CdR Villages I would have thought it was a great example of Rhone valley tradition.

A lovely Côtes du Rhône, blend of Grenache, Cinsault and Carignan. Typical French gravely quality of a CDR. Nice to drink on its own, but would probably pair well with pasta with bolognese sauce, lamb stew or grilled chicken or pork. A great value for just $10. — 9 years ago
