They make Bandol in California? If @Hardy Wallace and @Morgan Twain-Peterson decided to make wine together based on mutual love of elegant old vines and Mourvèdre, it would probably taste like this. I want to swim in one of Joel Peterson's redwood tanks. Just once. — 8 years ago
Moving along very well for an 8 year old new world Pinot. — 9 years ago
Road 13 is the route to take if you want to find a great Old Vine Chenin Blanc. The nose opens with lemon zest and honeydew melon. Your mouth will explore the complexities that of older vines featuring green apples, cantaloupe, and golden gooseberries. — 10 years ago
Possibly the best Australian cab I've tasted. Would never have guessed it to be Aussie, blind. No fruit bomb here. However, it's hugely concentrated. Blackberries, tobacco, cassis, some pomegranate. Still massively tannic at this stage; still a baby at ten years old. A serious zing of acidity. This baby has it all. Finish lasts for nearly minute. Our tenth Valentines Day. — 10 years ago
Deep, inky purple in the glass with generous blackberry flavors and a spicy, tannic finish. Never met a Hartford Zin I didnt like... — 10 years ago
10yrs old and still quite tight and youthful. Some road tar, sour cherry, red currant, mushroom, and lively dusty tannins wash across the gums. Still has 5-10 yrs left in it and will develop some nice sec-tert flavors along the way. Excellent acidity pairs well with food. — 11 years ago
Nice fruit and acidity. — 12 years ago
Road trips deserve respites. Beaufort, SC’s Old Bull Tavern spinning Marvin, Jimmi, and Stevie while casually offering up perfect garlicky oil bathed snails set upon crazy freshly baked chewy sour dough simply screams for, oh yeah, the wine. This fine Pomerol waits, wanting , her dangerously dark scarlet skin shimmers as she spins in the early evening tempted by the tunes revealing her marooning shades, darker bleeding berries, showing lighter in the wafting inconsistency of candle light. Another spin , a tilt, a voyeur’s gaze, a twirl, and a first kiss’ earthy wet spice on the front succumbs to plum its well-balanced acid clutches begging another spin, The I sip slow seductive deep kiss as she floods forward - I swallow, but she clings slowly, gradually, teetering touching sliding slowly, stealthy, soothingly, seductively signaling - have another hit... Don’t miss this wine or place, both picture perfect dripping southern edge and charm with a French accent and kiss🍷🌀 — 7 years ago
Slugged this back a couple of weeks ago now and didn't pay too much attention to it really beyond structure and smash-ability. Dried figs and raisins behind a blanket of insanely fresh raspberries, violets, gravel, and old oak. It's a powerful wine disguised in medium body and super juicy nature. If you're in the mood, it's tops. — 8 years ago
New release! Each year the Meyer's dedicate the Tribute Series (Old Main Rd Vineyard) to a Canadian for an outstanding achievement in their field and make a donation of $5000 toward a not-for profit foundation or scholarship. The 2014 Tribute is dedicated to JAK Meyer's parents Art & Viv Meyer & a donation was made on their behalf to the Open Door Senior Centre in Calgary. — 9 years ago
2014 like a farm stand down an old country road at the peak of berry season. #delicious #winewednesday the only place you'll find it BTG is at Puritan @selectionaturel — 10 years ago
Big bold and beautiful. The bouquet flies out of the glass. My little brother introduced to Gamba and loved it since. The 2011 Starr Road brings everything black in fruit. Black cherry, blackberry, black raspberry and even a little bit of black currant. Mellow tannins give a lasting finish that slides down like liquid silk. — 10 years ago
甘くて飲みやすい。ジュースみたい。 — 12 years ago
This was massive but subdued now (old age?)
Concentrated flavors of dark fruits and berries. Smooth, bold and big albeit a bit monotonous. Very low acidity makes it not too interesting. It is a good drinking wine to have with people who like big fruity massive wines . In my cellar for a long time, had to be drunk 😄 — 8 years ago
This Bordeaux style blend is not quite as big a wine as prior vintages, but has brighter acidity and nice mineral tannins. The dominant flavors are Bing cherry and blueberry, with a thick finish. It was a great complement to cumin seared steak salad. — 8 years ago
Dusty, cloudy but giving it everything's it's got at 7 years old... — 9 years ago
Almost ripe cherries, boysenberries. Dusty medium tannins. Lovely wine. — 9 years ago
Lush and velvety. Rich with dark red fruits and a subtle chocolate-y sweetness. Awesome wine! — 10 years ago
Improves with decanting. Subtle fruits with dry finish. — 10 years ago
First time trying an old Felton Road and a Block 5 courtesy of Can. Forest floor, some black fruits. Great concentration with depth and intensity of flavour. Good length but never felt over-blown or heavy. Shows why this wine is an icon. 94 points — 10 years ago
really nicely done — 11 years ago
Very drinkable wine; young but opens up nicely to reveal good earth and some fresh fruits like cherry and raspberry. Nose is not very floral and leans more toward a Rhone- like barnyard, though not overly strong. Overall it drinks like a nice middle-of-the-road table wine. — 11 years ago
Last one left of a vertical tonight, I have another saved for a few years down the road, weird this 2004 was my fav even up against the 01, 05 and 07 — 12 years ago
