Everything you need to know about this wine is here (including some randoms about the winery dog apparently). Definitely better than the Beckstoffer Las Piedras Cab which basically tasted like a sample right off the crush pad and never developed. Took this one an hour to get going, as it seemed a little thin and metallic for the first while. After allowing to sit, this darker violet-tinged wine had a very nice mature huckleberry and hint of nitrogen and au jus. The middle of this wine gets a bit more robust with some darker chocolate notes but keeping that dark, expressive and even slightly sweeter fruit. The finish has quite a bit of pepper, but also a stiff oak tannin. This wine finishes pretty long. Not sure if I want to sell off the second bottle or keep it around another couple of years. IMO the Hill Family Merlot which is about $30 cheaper outdoes this one easily. — 7 years ago

This is one of the handful of vintages that benefit from new investments to the crush pad and grape processing areas. This 2009 vintage gives a soft texture and bright inviting acidity that makes it more generous earlier in life. The espresso, new leather, and tobacco leaf all carry through until the finish. — 11 years ago
First off, let me say that Crush Pad’s bubble selection is the best I’ve had. Much like Tom Petty albums, I love each and every one. This is a Pinot Noir heavy mix of glorious bubbles and it is damn fine. On the Tom Petty scale: this bottle is easily a Wild One, Forever, from Toms first record. Much like the song I just want more when it’s over. A lot more. “I'd never get over how good it felt
When you finally kissed me
I will never regret baby
Baby, those few hours linger on in my head forever”.

Loved this !!! A huge surprise! I normally enjoy oak in bigger wine but this was great without! — 9 years ago
This is a very non/technical review. I pick up hints of the crush pad at harvest, as well as the barrel room just after fermentation. Definitely dark fruit. The color is fantastic in the glass. I taste grape jelly, cinnamon, a little coffee as well as some earthiness. The tannins are well behaved making this wine an excellent bottle of wine. I do think it will be even better in 10 years! Cheers. — 9 years ago
Incredibly good for 2011!! Spot on varietal correctness and quite nice balance from the deft touch in the cellar/crush pad. Bravo Maggie and Mark!! — 5 years ago
