I wasn't going to rate this wine at first, but after downing a six pack after a couple weeks I figured something is working here. It's definitely not your bread and butter pinot, and if you're a classic pinotvitorian, this wine probably isn't for you. But I'm just digging these crazy notes of root beer, caramel, oak, bright cherry, with almonds lurking in the background. Great body to this wine, well balanced with just a hint of pepper on a lingering finish. It's rich, voluptuous, and satisfying. As a club member I'm paying $28 a bottle and that feels like a deal. Good chance I'll be doubling down again soon. — 9 years ago
Pale straw yellow color with abundant tiny bubbles with bread crust, baked apple, and hazelnut aromas. On the palate, it shows a delicate creamy mousse with mineral accented baked apple and pear, toasted hazelnut, apricot and a hint of vanilla flavors. Long finish. 12.1% alcohol - From Roederer - "The wine for the dosage added to the L'ERMITAGE 2003 was 2004 wine liquor aged for 5.5 years in a French oak cask. Following disgorgement, L'ERMITAGE 2003 was aged an additional six months (minimum) on the cork prior to release. 52% Chardonnay, 48% Pinot Noir, 4% aged reserve wine (vintage '99)" — 10 years ago

2009 tasted 2014: dark purple all the way to the rim, like a young wine. Rich blueberry nose with lovely lilac violet notes, and spicy anise oak. Velvety smooth tannins evenly coat the palate from soft entry to lingering ripe fruit finish. Wonderful. — 10 years ago
