Great wine especially for the price — 6 years ago
Had the tempranillo a few months ago, this time it’s the grenache. It’s still wickedly young but putting out loads of cherry and watermelon juiciness and then immediately takes a turn into that rocks district funk. Always impressive how that shines through even when these wines are fresh. — 7 years ago

Had a bit more bite to it than the standard Ruby or Tawny versions. Also had some subtle notes of dark chocolate. — 7 years ago
I love this wine! It is always so balanced. Extremely smooth with very little tannins showing, being so young. A wine that never disappoints no matter the vintage. — 9 years ago

The 3rd and final bottle of the 11’ vintage (a underestimated vintage IMO), and it keeps getting better. The slight green note from the previous 2 bottles is no longer present. At a great place now. While it does not have the usual richness and power, it’s impeccably balanced, fresh, seamless, and graceful, which is preferable to me.
And I can’t thinking of a better bottle to pair with Pekin duck.
Almost perfect!

Crisp, clean — 7 years ago
Smell like a Dr Pepper but with none of the additives (obviously). Skrate cherry cola. Cranberry and cutting acidity. Supple and generous but light and pristine at the same time. Vg — 8 years ago
A distinctive cuvée of warmth and roundness. — 9 years ago

Good semi dry bubbly. Loved the tiny bubbles, holds up well. Not too sweet — 3 years ago
What a wine and did not show it’s 43 year age at all. The color was very dark with no brick edge. The nose was a bit subdued but had the typical berries, herbs and meat notes that carried over to a very tasty wine. The finish was okay not super long but long enough.
I started buying Beaucastel maybe a few years before this 1978 vintage and in Parker’s reviews of the 1978 vintage was a consistent hold but he did change his mind years down the road and said it was over the hill; well not by a long shot. I constantly purchased 2 or 3 bottle of every vintage till the price was out on my reach in 2001. I also had visited the winery in about 1990. The real kicker with this vintage is the current price estimates of $150 to about $250, current vintages run $80+ and I purchased this bottle for $11.99.

Shiraz is my favourite type of wine. I have enjoyed my fair share... This wine is definitely up there! Enjoying it at home with a dear friend. — 7 years ago
Great subtle gamay. I've always loved this wine (produced organically with no added yeast). I first tried this wine around 1992. Loved it then (bought a case) and it's still great today. This family knows what's it's doing with this wine. — 10 years ago

Age is just a number. Still has strong, heady aromas and flavors of apricots, stone fruits though no more tropical notes.after some time, aromas of creme caramel. Powerful backbone of acidity, tempered by flavors of herbs and bitters. Beautiful but with some complexity that comes with maturity. Paired with a slice of basque cheesecake. — 9 months ago
