Big cherry and plum. Lots of tannins and high alcohol. A big wine.... I wouldn't want to drink it without food. — 8 years ago

Tried the vintage 1993 in 2016. Aging but wonderful. Threw surprisingly little sediment. Thanks to my wife's Uncle Miča for giving this to us some 15 years ago. — 10 years ago

Since @India Okoh was slaying it in Constantia visiting Klein Constantia, Groot Constantia and Eagle’s Nest Wines, I decided to find some aged South African wine to drown my sorrows.
Bought this on a whim. How often do you get a chance to 27 year old South African Bordeaux blend? Unless you know somebody probably almost never. We got lucky and found this in a liquor store in Johannesburg for R170.00 it around $11.00.
No seepage and capsule intact. The cork was a little depressed and no ullage issues. Upon opening the cork completely fell apart with a light brown edge and medium garnet core. Woody nose with a touch of black cherries, mulberries, cedar and damp spices. Solid acidity making your mouth pucker with a light plus to medium bodied. Aged palate with leather, dried cherries, cedar, damp forest floor and a tad tart in the medium finish. Very impressive for a 27 year old. Drink now. — 7 years ago

Deep taste with a rich aroma. Also 2015 feels like 5 years old or more — 9 years ago

Rich full body with ripe berry fruit, cherry and delicate oak spice flavours, firm tannins and lingering aftertaste. Fabulous wine, fabulous value. One of our new favorites! — 10 years ago

You find yourself engulfed in smoked venison jerky. Once that blows off, plums, raspberries, rooibos tea, and tar sneak into the mix. Lots of umami stuff happening. It reminds me of the brown sauce you can't stop eating at your local take-out Chinese restaurant. Your mouth keeps salivating. I'm surprised at the softer tannic structure. I was expecting to have my face ripped off, but the tannins show restrain. Acid levels are reminiscent of blood oranges. 14.5% alcohol hides. Pleasantly surprised. #pinotage — 9 years ago
