Takes its name from the free-spirited gentleman named Bruscone who lived in the woods of the Barbi Estate. Enticing Ruby with sweet red berry aromas and earthy notes. On the palate cherry, licorice and sweet plum showing nicely. Fine tannins, well balanced on lingering finish ending with earthy herb tones. Needs decanting or cellar aging. Very nice! — 6 years ago
Underbrush herbs leather cherry fruit great balance nice had sparklers from Tasmania one of the few still wines -really pretty wine — 7 years ago
Kicking back letting the local tunes adjust my attitude with wine:30 showing on the clock she strolls in my direction digging the slow roll Hendrix spinning left then twisting right dressed in deep purple clinging and flowing interestingly crimson along her rim and edges back to casually claret whispering that she's from a small chateau hanging on the right bank of the Gironde near Arveyres. Offering her hand, I accept pulling her in close then a slow spin and a slower twirl she comes close bathed in the essence of blackberry and spice, young but ripe, wet earthy slowly working her way to a first kiss dripping then gripping, pulling tightly then going soft and silky still clinging while working her way deeper. I close my eyes, Hendrix stops and she's gone. A distant guitar string bends an unknown player. I spot her by the bar, her colors waving in the breeze of a lazy fan I reach out take her firmly by the neck, then lower bending her gently back then spinning her my way, she again engages, her essence lingering in my memory, we dance on as the tunes continue their spin. Later, when we are both done I figure she's likely a fine Merlot brightened by Cab Franc having found her way through new French oak nestled by the river, intelligently nuanced well worth the dance and cost is not an issue...

Neck fill and good cork. Immediate nose of cedar, anise, of course eucalyptus and even some hibiscus. It's deep in the glass and core was still tight, even bit tannic and firm acids. This vintage is drinking better now than the legendary 74's as some of that bigger vintage is falling apart. A real beauty! — 9 years ago
Bottle said Red Table Wine, not sure if the Delectable is correct. Nice warm red, wonderful flavor and nice smooth finish — 10 years ago
1991: Trusting the makeshift neck tag. Reticent nose, yet full delivery on palate. Book smart Cote Rotie, with everything you'd expect present. The youngster of the night, yet in welcome company. No hurry to drink, will continue to develop. — 10 years ago

Warm method of disgorgement (not by freezing the neck) and bottled one by one. — 11 years ago
It is not close. This is the best domestic Cabernet Franc I’ve ever had. Insane nose. It smells like if Foillard made a Cabernet Franc. Sick florals. Like OMG florals. Gorgeous berry fruit and lovey hint of wonderful sweet herbs. It is such a deep and enveloping aroma that it is almost too intoxicating. Just a total wow nose. Truly amazing. You can sniff so so hard and more and more aroma arrives in your nose. Just stunning. 9.6 nose. Really stunned. Confectionary as well. Palate is so refined, so elegant and so juicy. Just extraordinary. It’s medium bodied and insanely fresh, with such refined, ripe and substantial tannins. So pure. What balance. 40% whole cluster. Loess soils. What a long incredible finish and the fruit just sticks to the back of the palate. A truly brilliant wine. — 5 years ago
Golden copper. Slight notes of petrol, over ripe dried apricots, marzipan, golden raisins, crisp honey crisp apple, honey. Ooh...sugared caramel candies honey apple, apricots and golden raisins. It’s yummy. — 5 years ago
Notes of Plum, tart cherries and medium tannin. Damp earth, walking through the woods at a downpour is the nose when you take a deep inhale. Enjoyed in 2018, takes a bit to open up. — 7 years ago
Lower neck/high shoulder fill. Cork intact but crumbled as it was pulled out. The appearance was excellent – fresh, dark, deep, no sign of letting go at all. On the bouquet, there was a strong Cabernet perfume. Cassis, black fruits. The tannic structure was still very healthy. No trace of oxidation whatsoever. This Montrose lived up to its name as a long distance runner! — 8 years ago
CVed 11/14/16. Great nose of dark fruits and woods and hints of earthiness and mushrooms. Medium body palate is balanced by ripe dark berries and acidic structure with long finish that lingers. Opened 2/12/17. Tasting very well. Attractive nose that lingers. Excellent. Upping from 9 to 9.1. — 8 years ago
Dark red color with concentrate aromas of black fruits, musty leather, and cedar woods. Full-bodied with very nice and smooth taste of ripe blackberry, dried prune, vanilla, and dark chocolate on the palate. Solid structure, low acidity, soft and firm tannins, and medium length at the end. Good value and paired perfectly with beef steak. Like it. — 9 years ago

Lingonberries, strawberries, leather and wooden tones. Impressive clarity of flavour. Like an autumn day in the woods bottled for my enjoyment. — 10 years ago
Wow, what a cracking wine! This is the complete package just brimming with lovely, soft, beguiling Cabernet aromas of cassis, leather and leaf. What struck me was the beautiful licorice and fine dark chocolate. Beautiful, structured yet immensely enjoyable even now :) — 10 years ago
Drinking a great wine at the home of the winery owner. — 10 years ago
Superbly complex nose. Mid season cherry, smoke, herbs, deep fruit, tea, spice, perfect sour cherry as well, so refined and gorgeous. Palate is elegant and refined with intense sour cherry fruit and substantial structure and tannins. Really fine. Such terrific tiny berry fruit intensity. Another wine that needs 2-6 hours to open up. These are so up my alley. After some air gorgeous florals. The most structured of them all. Like a Corton. — 5 years ago
Tasted of peaches at first. Delightful! — 6 years ago
Takes its name from the free-spirited gentleman named Bruscone who lived in the woods of the Barbi Estate. Ruby with bright aromas of red berry fruits and wild flower notes. On the palate strawberry and cherry flavors, well balanced with avidity & fine tannins. Lingering finish ending with earthy tones. Nice value. — 8 years ago
Initially showing some oak and grip, but this settled into a cedar-y, spicy, elegant wine. Initially lagging behind the '01 La Mission, the intensity and integration built with time and air. By the end of the night, it was neck in neck. Great wine that will improve with another few years. — 8 years ago
Vintage 1949 in Burgundy according to Broadbent: “..most perfect end of a decade - elegant, well-balanced wines”; Clive Coates in his book Cote D'Or: "best vintage of 40's all-perfect beauty and purity”; Robert M. Parker Jr.: “it was the best of post world war II vintages before 1959”
Henri Leroy at that time was négociant based in Auxey-Duresses, his mythical daughter Lalou Bize-Leroy in 1949 was only seventeen.
Les Cazetiers is amongst the most elevated of Premier Cru site in Gevrey-Chambertin - and indeed the whole of Burgundy.
I drank this precious bottle on Mount Etna with #FrankCornelissen and other dear friends. Uncork this bottle lead to a surgical operation. Just begun to pull it out, a light breath of wine molecule with air bubbles magically have emerged on the surface of the cork. It's been like witness the passing away of a dying old man (or Pinot Noir must be a woman?) That humanized wine had held "élan vital", hope and breath inside him for the last 66 years! A miracle of a wine still so tasty, robust, citrusy, vibrant, earthy, incredibly alive and well-preserved despite color and neck level did not bode so well.. that's what I thought and I'll remember until I die: "the wine was waiting for us to drink it up, he gave off his mortal blow to offer us life, joy and smile!" — 9 years ago
Base neck, good color and nose of cigars, tawny port/Madeira combo. These old GR's are made the old world way and lost on most. — 10 years ago
A definite deep in the woods kind of wine. Savoury and elegant, soft tannins for a Nebbiolo. 2010 Reserve. Beautiful. — 10 years ago
Deep amber color. Aromas of birch bark, vanilla, old linens, and mahogany. It smells like autumn leaves in the deep woods after rain, and it tastes like wood, too—birch and pecan, walnut, sarsaparilla. There's roundness at the front and sharpness at the back, and the finish is bitter nut. Pour straight over ice or add tonic and a splash of white port. 16% abv | $28 (New Hampshire) — 11 years ago

The good whites of Burgundy, aka crack cocaine, are what they are because of great blending - in this case, Pierre Benoist of DRC.
This is special not just for the florals, the woods, the citrus, the spice, but for these things together.
