Great value Red from Macedonia. Bright purple color that shows off notes of ripe red berries and fruit jams. (Concentrated). Little bit of cinnamon and herbs on the finish. Not much of a nose at all. Medium body with a very narrow and smooth finish. (When you swallow it- it is gone). Pretty good. — 7 years ago

Needed a few minutes, but went from long, narrow and austere to rotund, weighty and complex. If a bit clipped. — 11 years ago

Vintage 2011 / dark colour, beautiful smell, complex with vanilla, cedar, milkchocolate, laurel, stewed red fruit, refined taste with narrow spine. Still tannic but good with food after aeration. Partnered it with Uzbek Plov made from basmati rice, lambsmeat, spices and carrots. #margaux #Cabernetsauvignon #merlot #cabernetfranc — 7 years ago
Yum. Bought this bottle on 'Evacu-cation' during our escape from Calistoga wildfires to sunny Ojai. One of a few library wines scored from the Ojai Vineyard tasting room. Great example of California Chardonnay at its best. Shows restraint and reserve with invigorating acidity. Tasting great at this age. — 8 years ago
Very good on it's own or take a bottle of this Leonard Oakes Escape Rose and Leonard Oakes Frontrnac and dump into a pitcher. Tastes just like sangria. Very good! — 8 years ago
Blackberry compote, cassis, plum, white pepper, lavender, mocha, garrigue. Excellent rounded acidity/minimal narrow smooth velvet tannin balance, medium-full bodied, juicy texture, smoky-dried fruit finish. Well balanced and paired beautifully with a hearty beef stew. — 9 years ago

Love this stuff...fresh burst of acidity with the. Aromatics of pear, peach and honey.... Graham crackers... No I haven't gone crackers . This Godello is growing at 600 to 650 meters on really steep slopes, eastern side. Rocky quartz soils with loads of red clay a spectacular place that takes quite a while to get to by way of a windy steep narrow road. It really makes you appreciate it — 12 years ago

Nice classics left bank Bordeaux. Suttle, narrow but deep. Mineral with balanced fruit and a light but lingering finish. — 8 years ago
Novice in whites fairly impressed with how subtle buttery smooth no acidity wry impressed! — 8 years ago
This is another example of how 2010 makes all things good. The decanter is too narrow (at a restaurant) so surface area is small. It needs a bit more softening. The nose is full of holiday spice-- nutmeg clove cinnamon. Taste is not as round. Solid not spectacular.

RIP to the late Zlatan who passed a month ago.
Zlatan Otok is one of my favourite wineries in Croatia. I appreciate every single one of the wines that I've tried but that said, this Zlatan Otok 2010 Crljenak is my absolute fave.
In 2001 a research, funded by Mike Grgich of Judgement of Paris fame, on the origin of Zinfandel came to fruition. It confirmed that Zinfandel and Primitivo came from Croatia. Unfortunately at the point of discovery, the vines of Crljenak in Croatia was near extinction. Today, only a handful of Croatian wineries still produce this wine. As far as I've tried, the Zlatan Otok 2010 Crljenak is the best representation of this variety.
Notes: Colour is dark garnet with some clarity. On the nose, I get cboth red and black fruit, white and black pepper, slightly perfumey like amber and musk. The palate reflects exactly what's on the nose, carried off by vibrant acidity and prominent minerality. Tannins are slightly coarse but sweet, which means it should be aged in the bottle for a while longer but ready to be enjoyed now. What I love most is how it opens up and expresses itself on the palate like a triangle--from narrow and shy to wide and lively. This Crljenak has lighter body than most Californian Zinfandel.
The final conclusion: Yes please! It's slightly cheaper than Lytton Springs, and I'm getting more pleasure from this. — 9 years ago
I know is a cheapie wine from Fresh & Easy, but I love it! — 11 years ago
A deep/dark ruby color in glass, a cornucopia of red//dark aromas escape easily from the glass...while it appears a bit of flamboyant initially after the first splash...stiff tannins remind you of its youthfulness and for those willing to wait another 7-10 years you'll be nicely rewarded! The finish was bit shorter than I would have liked, but still a solid enough performer overall to squirrel away for the future. — 12 years ago

What a gem! Opened and decanted into a bottle with a narrow opening to keep from aerating too quickly. Nose had tobacco, leather and earth. Palate had all that and a little mint, anise and herbs. Beautiful red color, clean and clear. Enjoyed with the tail-end of an uni pasta special, and with shared lamb (with fresh mint, morels, and asparagus) and with roast suckling pig. Evolved during the course of two hours or so. — 7 years ago
