Awesome Cab Franc! On the nose, green bell pepper, violet, very herbaceous, with some cherry. On the palate, medium plus tannins, lavender, blackberry, green bell pepper, and loose tobacco leaves. Uncorked for 1 hour, sweet nose, dark red fruits, a lot going on in this wine. Finish is lengthy, definitely a good wine to enjoy with grilled, fatty meat with assertive flavor. Well integrated tannins and a lot of life left. I need to follow this over a couple days to see what secondary flavors show up...

Day 2: poured after reaching temp of 60F and enjoyed with dinner. Secondary notes are more noticeable and fruit is balanced. Leather, spice, and oak. The nose has a pleasing off quality of a much older wine. Rotting wood and dried tomatoes come to mind, but there is also ripe red fruit and some brightness. Good acidity and fine tannins with some receding fruit in the pallet. Less structured than a Bordeaux, but still a big wine. — 8 years ago
