Like someone crushed just ripe yellow peaches, diced apples & sweet lemon with a granite mortar, then drizzled the lightest of honeys over all of it. — 10 years ago
On the Lawn at Tanglewood this evening with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Our guest conductor Moritz Gnann is leading WAGNER (Siegfried Idyll), MOZART (Piano Concerto No. 27 in B-flat) with the outstanding Paul Lewis on piano and SCHUMANN (Symphony No. 3, Rhenish).
Peach juice, Lemon zest, wow Lemon oil like I've never tasted before, white flowers crushed in a limestone mortar with a granite pestle, aromas of late Spring rain on new flowers growing in the midst of a granite scree slope whilst someone had been running around squeezing Lemons beforehand, crazy. Looking forward to seeing how this develops in the coming days, too interesting to finish tonight.
24hr Update: Very tropical fruit-ish on the nose, still with lemon, lemon, lemon. The lemon oil notes have backed down on the palate. My wife thinks it's limes, it's definitely lemons, she's crazy.
48hr Update: Acidity and lemon oil characteristics are beginning to subside, probably 30% less than day one, just a stellar bottle! — 7 years ago
Albillo with a touch of age. This is Bosc pears crushed with a granite mortar and pestle. Great texture. Not quite "nervy" but there's definitely an eye tic going on. — 9 years ago
The only Pinot Noir made with Napa fruit better than Brick and Mortar's Cougar Rock Pinot is this wine right here. complex, beguiling, nuanced and mysterious are some of the endless descriptors that can be used to describe this beautiful Spring Mountain Pinot. Can't wait to taste this in another 5 years or so, as it is destined for greatness. — 9 years ago
Let me be up front, I like you. Okay? I know we just meet and all, but you, you send me to that place, that unidentifiable, that hole, that flushing of the skin, that unknown; pleasure. I know, I know, I know. You are thinking it's just your looks. It's just your perfume. It's aesthetic. It's lust. It's fleeting,. Momentary. A pathetic attempt,. An act of desperation. Let me say, in my defense: I'm not smitten easy. I'm tough, cynical. All brick and mortar. Hard edges and despair. But you, you are the real thing, my dear. I'm sure of it. Just one touch and I'm done, love at first blush. You can do what you like. Go join the rest of the party. But I want you to know: your taste well be on my tongue, your full unbridled attention will be mine, before this night is over. I love you. — 9 years ago
I really like! Thanks to clayton and blue apron gift! — 7 years ago
There is no spent coal here, no mortar, no heaving of salted jute. Only the relentless calm of whole communities of simple grapes. — 8 years ago
Such a consistent producer. Mortar and pestle ground tobacco, dried cherries and prune.
Top note of vanilla and cracked nutmeg leads to raspberry and plum.
Fine granular tannins and smoked paprika (actually that might be an influence from the seasoned shrimp and linguisa dinner).
Enjoyable! — 9 years ago
Hard to believe there are only a few reviews of this wine on here. Matt is an all around nice guy making some of the best Pinot out there from Napa fruit. Super fresh, complex and delicious, red-fruited Pinot here with tons of spice and nuance. Highly enjoyable. — 9 years ago
Excellent chardonnay that is well rounded and indicative of its terrior. Kiss of vanillan creates a great texture. My go to NV chard. #napa #chardonnay #chardonnayday — 10 years ago
Fully worthy of the fresh dungeness crab cakes and old bay aïoli hand-made with a mortar and pestle I just cooked up #GetOnMyLevel — 10 years ago
At Marea...just an amazing wine like all his 2010s...explosive aromatics like a mortar to the nose....red fruits, velvet and that je ne sais quoi that i still can't pinpoint... Palette lacked some of the weight of a 1er or grand but Ooooooo what a village — 12 years ago

2014 Chablis...So Good!
Initially a little cold, it displayed an interesting nose of creamed honey and lemon. Now that it's warming we're smelling fresh lemon ground down in a mortar and pestle, that vibrant citrus aroma from flesh and pith combined with abundant minerality.
The palate is full of great minerality, day old cut lemon, under-ripe white peach, green apple with a sprinkle of salt. $23, value delivered! — 7 years ago
