I tried this right out of the bottle and was a little worried - super tight and one dimensional - but after two hours open it was singing and I was smiling. The nose has a more savory profile but the palate is full of bright red fruits with crushed gravel on the finish. Super smooth - the fruit and spice from the Grenache keeps the gaminess/savory flavors of the Syrah in check while the Mourvèdre adds richness. Helen Keplinger is a genius when it comes to these new world “old world blends” - I have yet to have one from her that hasn’t been fantastic. — 8 years ago

This is body medium PLUS if you know what I mean. Stumbled upon this gem tasting cabs in Sonoma last June. Was very fortuitous to find the tasting room just off the town square. Pale in color; slightly waxy, lime rind, white flower. Excellent vibrant acid balance with a layered texture and full body. A delicate almond note on long finish suggests drink up but this was in great shape overall. Dancer has a wonderful touch with CH.

As for the age I would guess this to be somewhere late 60's to early 70's (as the bottle is embossed 4/5 quart which I believe was discontinued for the metric 750ml in 1979) and also has the "classic" plastic/rubber foil found on a lot of oldies from that time.

Being a bit of a history buff when it comes to CA's wine industry I'm very humbled when opening these pieces of history.
Amazingly this held up to 24+ hours of aeration without loosing any life...and actually got better!!
