Interesting port style wine. Brandy and oak stand out. Petite Verdot used in this one. Smooth and easy to drink but may may be a bit too fruity and sweet for some. Lots of "chocolate notes." — 8 years ago

Had ‘13 & ‘14 and thought ‘14 has a better and bolder style. Founded by Corley family in 1970 and now produces 15,000+ cases of Napa Valley wines. Aged for 22 months in French oak (35% new), aromas of red fruits and spice. On the palate this full-bodied wine shows flavors of strawberry and red plum with some espresso and caramel notes. Lingering finish, soft fine tannins ending with notes of oak and sweet spice. ‘14 will develop nicely in the bottle, but it’s good now. — 5 years ago

I gotta say, this was not at all what I expected. My second King Family wine (the first was their rather sublime Viognier) and first of their dessert wines. This is not at all some cloying mess that so many dessert wines end up being. Instead, it’s got great acid that gives the sensation that it’s almost dry. Might be one of the easiest-to-drink 17% ABV wines I’ve ever had. Even HRH, who hates dessert wines, took a sip and then poured a glass. Color me impressed. — 5 years ago
Very nice Virginia white blend. 43% Viognier, 37% Chardonnay and 20% Petite Manseng. Pleasant lemony and white flower notes on the nose. Buttery apples and pears on the pallet. Medium body and crisp acidity. Just a hint of oak. — 5 years ago
This was the “Mountain Plains” special edition bottling, Meritage/Bordeaux style red, and it was impressive. Plenty of stuffing here and it is clearly still VERY young (2015) so after a couple hours in the decanter it began to open up expressing a Left Bank nose of red & black fruit, pencil lead, tobacco, damp Earth and some herbaceous w/white pepper from the large % of Cab Franc. Muscular tannins, exceptionally full-bodied, they got some huge extraction on this wine and did not over-oak it. Played beautifully w/filets - expensive, even by VA wine standards, but they got this one right. — 6 years ago

Purchased at the estate to try out after our tasting. Pure golden yellow, not at the same level of intensity as a Sauternes or Vin de Constance. Nose was covered in dried apricots, light pineapple and complex floral notes. Not syrupy thick but a decent viscosity. Lots of honeysuckle and dried white fruits. Moderate body with a delicate finish. Drink till 2023. 305 cases produced. — 8 years ago
