Great value! — 9 years ago
Portuguese wine tasting at D'Canter. Smell: more ripe fruit than dry fruit; cherry, black plum. Big fruit, higher alcohol, fresher and younger. Don't need to age it as much higher, easy to drink on its own. Very nice w the rosemary cheese. Nice and light. — 10 years ago
Very smooth, medium nose, this is a fabulous Chilean wine. I paired it with a slow cooked pork tenderloin, red potatoes, and onions. It was divine! — 10 years ago

Killer Arinto blend from northern Portugal — 12 years ago

Chilean PN great colour and clarity. On the nose cherry, hint of cinnamon and ocean air. The flavours in thirds; Front, rich red cherry. Middle , Chinese five spice with clove, cassia, star anise, ginger and cinnamon . Back is long and moves firm the salt of the ocean to white pepper. As this opens I think of Spices common to bold. Shiraz or Carmenere - a very complex PN for under $20 - definitely worth your time. — 13 years ago
The final bottle of the case. This wine is now darker and smokier on the nose with less of the blue fruit and more of the stewed black fruits. The palate still has wonderful acidity but is far less lush. Flavors of wet earth mingle with darker stewed plum and blackberries and lead to a bit of a shorter finish that shows a touch more puckering acidity. — 8 years ago
Excellent Napa Cab from Montes. The 2008 summer was very hot, keeping yields low and providing concentrated berries at harvest. This is a big, full bodied wine delivering lots of ripe dark fruit, pepper, tobacco and some chocolate. Smooth and almost velvety in the mouth it has a long and pleasant finish. Decanted for 2 hours, this will last another 15 years or more.

Dry earthy, plum with a raspberry snap. A solid option that does a great service to Montes' reputation. — 10 years ago

Bold and balanced fruit. Does not smell or taste as hot as the alcohol would suggest — 11 years ago
Deep, deep ruby, dark intriguing nut brittle backed up by black fruits. Dry, mature tannins, spicy rich smoky fruits. Magnificently mature! — 12 years ago

#tannat bem rico no paladar - amadeirado e bem encorpado - e no cheiro - de frutas vermelhas, especialmente morango. Também tem notas de cacau e é um excelente custo-benefício. — 10 years ago

Not sure why this is rated relatively low, as the 2014 vintage was exceptional (and ranked in the top 50 of Wine Spectator’s Best of 2016 list). Big aromas of cigar box and hard candy, mouth-watering tastes of strawberry jam, cedar and caramel... and most astonishingly, it retails for $15. Get some - now! — 8 years ago
