That last rating was somewhat unfair... It's not a good example of a sangiovese because it's not a sangiovese at all! This is rich in fruit and slightly off-dry - an excellent wine for guests who say they aren't wine drinkers. — 11 years ago
Rich, deep blend of rondinella, molinara garganega. Cherries and prunes, leather and tobacco. A heavy hitter that may still need time in the bottle. — 11 years ago
Decent drop of Val, the hearty bouquet doesn't bely the depth of body and concentration. — 11 years ago
Honey, leather with acid and sweetness balanced. Truly a great dessert wine — 12 years ago
2009 Meroni Recioto della Valpolicella. With low sugars (96 grams), a very classy sweet wine. — 13 years ago
Who's so crazy to sell Valpolicella Superiore (not Ripasso) 2007 now? Carlo Meroni, a traditionalist. — 13 years ago
I have really been getting into Italian wines lately and this was recommended at the wine store. I also spent more than I normally would on a wine which is disappointing. 70% Corvina Veronese, 20% Rondinella and 10% Molinara. It’s a medium bodied wine with a ruby red color. It’s very tannic, a little peppery but with a little bit of chocolate, not much fruit. When I sniff it, it smells very high in alcohol. (15%) it has a very long finish on the tongue. Not so sure about this one. Maybe the 2nd night will be better ☹️ — 8 years ago
Perfect summer Rose!! Ordering this one! — 9 years ago
A blend of Corvina (60%), Corvinone (20%), Rondinella (15%) and Molinara (5%). Deep red with aromas of black and red fruits and spice. On the palate candied cherry and raspberry flavors with cacao notes and baking spices. Soft smooth tannins well balanced with acidity on a long finish ending with earthy mineral tones. Very Nice! Tasting Sample. — 9 years ago
Drinking the 2012 in magnum format in 2016. Decanted for 2-3 hours. Maroon colour and nice gentle Ribena nose. A very pleasant and quaffable restrained cherry flavour - not tart, not bitter. A more delicate and soft but well balanced wine that we had expected it to be, this worked very well with our lovely homemade pizza dinner. — 11 years ago

Very fruity...love it — 11 years ago
An "authentic" Valpolicella Superiore. No half-dried grapes, no new oak, no sugar. Traditional blend of corvina, corvinone, rondinella, molinara, fruity of cherries, a touch of black pepper, floreal of violet. In mouth: cocoa, coffe powder, cherries. — 12 years ago
Corvina, corvinone, rondinella, molinara, oseleta. Big and small oak. Curious flavor of green aromatic herbs! To try. 17€ for the consumer — 13 years ago
2005 Meroni Il Velluto Amarone della Valpolicella. A "traditional" style, a benchmark. — 13 years ago
Högg den på tillfälliga hyllan på hansa. Extremt prisvärd! Rosig, bärig, kakao, bastu. Riktig len men ändå dröjande i flabben. Tanniner. — 7 years ago
Dark ruby in color with a purplish rim.
Fruity nose of black cherries, plums, blueberries, oak, vanilla, licorice, cloves, herbs, spices, dark chocolates, coffee, peppercorn, earth, light vegetables, pencil lead and peppercorn.
Medium plus in body with medium plus acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with cherries, strawberries, red currants, licorice, tobacco, herbs, vegetables, spices, peppercorn, vinaigrette and spices.
Medium finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cranberries.
This is a great Amarone. Not fully balanced, yet enjoyable by itself or with food. Showing nice complexity and a great mouthfeel. Intense, smooth and rich
Needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly. Good right out of the bottle and better as it opens up (2 hours). Died after 4 hour in the decanter, and became too acidic (... but there was not much left anymore😉)
I paired it with light appetizers, cheeses and smoked Meats.
Grapes were dried for 3 months before pressing. Aged for 30 months in Slavonian oak barrels.
A blend of 65% Corvina, 20% Rondinella, 5% Molinara and 10% Croatina.
15% alcohol by volume.
90 points.

Riktigt gott köpt o Italien av Frédéric. — 9 years ago
Light and elegant but packed with Masi-like Amarone flavors and textures. Fennel, dried dark fruit, flowers and menthol. A Classico, which means it is not passed over the pomace of Amarone grapes, just made from the same blend of corvina, rodinella, and molinara. — 10 years ago
This wine is fresh and vibrant as soon as you pour it in your glass. A lovely cherry red, the Frescaripa has aromas of bright red fruit with a lovely earthy backbone and just a hint of pepper. This wine is vibrant and fresh, layers of flavors held together by a zest of acidity. This wine is very lightly oaked, medium bodied, and really flavorful and complex for the price! It would perfectly pair with homemade pasta or pizza, poultry, tomato sauces. 15$-20$ CAN — 11 years ago
This is a Valpolicella blend without Molinara but with some Croatina. Grapes come from volcanic soils of San Briccio Cru, near Mezzane. 2006 is a 4-stars vintage, but here we are at the top peak of quality, awesome wine. — 12 years ago
2003 Meroni Il Velluto Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva del Fondatore. A powerful vintage, but still elegant. — 13 years ago
