This excellent Sangiovese is unfiltered and has a maroon rather than ruby tint. It is slightly fuller of body than your typical Sangio and extremely polished, and worked well as a pairing with vegetable pasta dishes, with chicken sausage on the side. When in Rome (as they say) 75% Cab Franc, 25% Merlot. This needs air or you'll think it uninspiring (was best the next day). Violets and slight French oak nose. Smooth, clean blue fruits with tannins up front fading at mid palate. Med/short finish. Solid wine. — 8 years ago
