Inaugural vintage for Joshua West of Elephant Seven Winery. Sourcing from stunning vineyards in the Rocks District. Definitely worth checking out and great value, only $30.00.
Medium to deep garnet core. Very feminine on the nose, but do not take that for being shy. Insanely complex nose that kept changing over time. Started off a little floral with roses and even a little bit of strawberries. Layered undertones of spices, herbs and mixed all together with some cinnamon. Floral notes definitely got stronger on day two. Moderate tannins (6/10), well integrated, excellent structure and medium plus to full bodied. Definitely a touch savory on the attack from 'the Rocks' region, this juice comes from, with meaty notes, wet rocks, and a touch of black pepper. Undertones of black cherries and raspberries. Gained even more complexity on day two with blacker fruits and nutmeg. Slightly dry and lingering finish. Drink till 2024. (92+)

Excellent blend. Good nose and structure. Full/medium body with ripe red and black fruit blend. Nice to drink alone but great with Pagliacci Pizza in Seattle. — 9 years ago

This has dark berry and plum fruit, ripe and sweet. Tastes like it was freshly pressed. Acidity is moderate, and tannins and minerality are weak. Lighter in body than its deep color. So this is a juicy and simple wine. — 9 years ago
I liked it--drank 3/4 of the bottle myself. — 9 years ago
Bought at Krogers for 13.99. Taste of honeysuckle and peach. It's ok. Light wine. Not as good as Mercer. — 10 years ago

The Mercer Malbec looks dark ruby in the glass. The nose offers some beautiful dark fruit - plums, blackberries and currant - and sticks a lovely dose of French oak in there. A nice, savory hint of black olives lurks in the background. The palate is just as enjoyable, with a fruity focus augmented by peppery spice and cinnamon. This is a wine that will be a hit at the holiday table, no doubt. It's a festive, fun red that can hold its own with the standing rib roast. — 9 years ago
