No surprise that winemaker Jeff Ames' resume includes Schrader, Tor and Maybach. Big, wide red with aspirations for ginormous. Pure, extracted black fruit and smoky tobacco throughout. Big, gritty tannins from wood and skins. In 10 years this will be absolutely ethereal if it doesn't suck. Literally. Neat, risky things going on at this winery. — 10 years ago
3 hour decant & still tight as a drum, not much of a nose.
Hold em if you got em
Made by Thomas Rivers Brown of Schrader & Maybach fame.
No where near as approachable as Maybach or his own wine Label Rivers Marie.
Corking it back up till tomorrow, could be one of those 2nd day wines.

Sweet, easy to drink, very fruity. — 9 years ago
The name means "understated elegance" which perfectly describes this wine. Beautiful, rich Chardonnay but still very balanced. For lovers of dense, buttery (but not too oaky!) Cali chards this should be on your must try list. Thomas Rivers Brown doesn't make too many Chardonnays, but those he does (this, Maybach, Rivers-Marie) are just incredible. — 9 years ago
Should have decanted it longer as it started to show off during the course of the evening. Drank side x side with a 2005 Maybach and was not over-shadowed. Drink with a long decant or hold. — 10 years ago

Expected much more enjoyment, based on previous Vintages of this wine from Gargiulo Vineyards.
The 2012 575 OVX Cabernet Sauvignon, Oakville Estate Vineyard; tastes“thin” when to other Oakville Cabs in this price range; I.E, Maybach Materium, Schrader Beckstoffer Cabs, etc.
Disappointed, can’t report much here, sorry.

Thomas Rivers Brown, master behind Schrader, Maybach, and Revana. Found him at an outfit in Yountville. Masculine style Prop red, but with a good breathe lets you experience his style without shelling out $250. — 9 years ago
V13 A mass produced German Riesling for the Rheinhessen region. Our first none the less.
Canned pineapple on the nose, with passion fruit in the mouth.
A high acidity finish.

Actually...not quotes as good as the Maybach. Both have a ton of life. — 12 years ago

Just wow and was going up against a Maybach. Had this first and it was a good order. — 7 years ago
