This is a Gil Family offering. Blend of Mazuelo (35%), Garnacha (35%) and Syrah (30%). Dark inky ruby color with a slight garnet rim. Black and blueberry aromas with notes of iodine, purple flowers, asphalt and smoke. Intense dark cherry and blueberry flavors with hints of baking spices and black licorice. Aged for 18 months in French oak. The additional bottle age has further developed the smooth texture and fine tannin structure. Ripe, plush and bold. Outstanding Spanish Montsant Red Blend! Revisited in August 2025. Hitting its peak! Thanks for the fantastic gift, Petey! — 4 years ago

Garnatxa Blanca, Pansal & Pedro Ximenez blend. Hazelnut, yellow apple, white peach, gravelly minerals, flint. Nice acidity and finish. After decant for a time, oxidative nuttiness and dried fruits emerge. — 10 years ago
No brainer. The fruit and the minerality are typical Priorat and that's not a bad thing. — 11 years ago

Might be my favorite of the 2013 Black Slates (And no, I haven't had the Mas d'en Compte one yet). Dried figs, chocolate and a perfectly balanced diet between the slate and the oak. — 9 years ago
